Re: Rivalry with Nadal has forged stronger friendship, says Federer

Nice to see Federer talking like this. His relationship with Nadal is something unique in sport

I hope other players do the same as Rafa and Roger

a humble talk, indeed

See, even champions like him can acknowledge the fact that someone played better than they did in a particular day, it's nothing to be ashamed of and only tards believe their faves cannot lose if they aren't mentally weakened/injured/tired/sick/etc
actually, note carefully the "sometimes" at the beginning of the sentence.

the connotation here is that he is not always beaten for this reason. "sometimes" other things caused his defeat. you know- like mentally weakened, injured, mono, poor light etc.

federer is very good at using words. he says things in a disarming and charming manner so that you don't realise that you are being insulted or damned with faint praise.
he pulls people in and they start going on about how gracious and charming he is but if you read carefully between the lines or can pick up quickly what he is actually saying; you realise that he is being a bit of a prat and is quite arrogant and egotistical.

it's for this reason that i started disliking him ( pls know,i don't hate him, and respect and admire his game a lot) whereas before i thought he was a really nice guy and really liked the cute way he was with rafa. now i can barely stand it when he opens his mouth to speak as what he says is rarely ok.

what are you talking about? the guys absolutely HATE each other, cannot stand to spend a single moment together, always abuse each other in interviews and press conferences, their families are like the Montagues and Capulets for all the hate present...

Watching those exos was so awful, you could tell how much hatred they have for each other, being forced to play two matches together for charity. Only for such a good cause would they tolerant each other's presence

yeah, but Lendl lived in the times on which players were like Mac or Connors, not hard to hate or ignore them

They actually do seem to be genuinly friends, and I don't think it's just for the cameras either.

hey! whatever floats your boat. not trying to sway you or anyone else here. just telling you my impressions of him.

i do believe he and rafa have a good relationship going and that he genuinely likes him but that still doesn't stop him from talking crap in public which is kinda sad because i believe he is inately a nice guy.

my cousin put it succinctly when i asked her what she thinks about Roger. she said "that guy should just shut up! seriously.. stop talking because everytime he opens his mouth i'm thinking - what a jerk!"

i was shocked because i thought i was the only one who was picking up his BS.

my sister and i have a running joke going now. its called "what the hell is roger federer saying now?" we find that guy totally hilarious and ROTFL when he interjects his little gems into his speeches or, so called, "compliments". so funny!
