CH Tunis R2: Gicquel def. Jaziri 7-6(5) 6-0

Malek had 5-*2 in the tiebreak and had 15-30 on return at 5-*4 in the first set.

Awesome win for Marc. Only three points lost on first serve! This is the type of mental strength win and ability he still has even at 35. Now hopefully he wins the title and gives FFT a reason to grant him a RG WC.

He's still got it.

Thought Jaziri was a cert.

RIP Henry Chinaski. A true MTF legend

Btw, people probably forget that both players in this match were born in Tunisia

Gicquel doesn't deserve a WC for RG. I really hope he doesn't go further than the QF, because he should stay clear of the FFT's radar.

Why do we have such different tastes in tennis players we like?

I don't mind Gicquel, but he's old, washed up and really not in the possession of a pedigree that justifies his taking WCs from young prospects (vis-à-vis a Clément). I somehow doubt you disagree.

There would also be something really twisted in Gicquel getting a WC for RG, when only two months earlier he couldn't even win a first-round Future match on the same surface against the legendary (ahem) Cauvard. And that result cannot be justified by lack of match practice or injury problems.

WC should go to Serra, it shouldn't even be questioned.

I think you're joking, but I'll make the case that, though it should go to neither, it's Serra > Gicquel for sure.

I agree with you, his results the past year don't warrant him receiving a WC, but I want him to get a WC anyway

Good match from Gicquel , but I don't think he deserves a WC for the FO. He's not great on clay, never performed well on FO, not an ATP title.... and I agree with Martijn, If they are going a WC to an oldie, they should give it to Clement, and even to Serra above of him if we consider his past results!

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

I'm not sure Florent is gonna get a WC unless he does well in Bordeaux. Florent, Marco, Arno have to get WCs or I will be so sad, especially Florent. The young Frenchman haven't been doing much outside of Rufin.

Haas could get a WC over all of these guys.

Agree Rufin for the WC. I hope that De Schepper doesn't get a WC
