Belgrade R1: Volandri def. [WC] M. Djokovic 6-3 6-1

The match was a disaster, as expected, really, from both players. Marko looks very amateurish on court, zero tennis instincts, doesn't really seem to know what he's doing at all. He's got a long, long way to go if he's ever gonna even be a challenger level player or high-level futures player. Right now in his current state he has no shot at making tennis a full-time profession.

Filippo didn't get out of 1st gear, the first set was terrible from him, but it didn't matter and he didn't need to raise his level nor intensity. Filippo won 14 straight points from 15-30 down in the first service game of the second set, to 3-*0 40-0.

Horrific result for the future of men's tennis. He played so much better in Dubai. Obviously clay is not his preferred surface.

He has no future in the sport, might as well just give the last wildcard to a lucky local in the crowd next year, sure it'd generate as much interest as putting on this meek talentless nobody again.

Wow, this was the first time I have encountered a player who has a worse serve than Pippo.
And apart from having a horrible serve he has absolutely no punch in his groundstrokes and doesn'z move well at all.
I can't believe he has the same genes as Nole.

Dolgopolov Petzschner Paire

I only watched the second set of this, but it was one of the most boring sets of tennis I have ever seen. Errors all over the place from Djokovic, bad footwork and terrible net approaches. And on top of this Volandri was playing down to his opposition and playing with absolutely no intensity, but I suppose this is expected if the crowd is so muted.

He does pack quite a punch off his forehand, but his movement lets him down. Backhand needs some work. Serve needs some work. Footwork needs some work. Movement needs some work. Transition game needs some work. Apart from that, I think he has the talent to go very far in the game.

What is interesting is that Marko tries to hit his groundstrokes like big brother Novak. Has an almost identical forehand motion, but hits it about twice as slow.

This was really a waste of a WC. Marko belongs nowhere near the ATP tour. Novak hogged all of the talent in that family.

Marko should retire, he won't go far.
Maybe the Djordje has a chance

Obviously you haven't seen the youngest brother play

He actually isn't that bad speed wise, but he has disastrously bad footwork................basically no footwork, and he's got terrible balance, he's clumsy and has a weak lower body. He also has no instincts so he doesn't anticipate shots like a professional should be able to.

Marko needs to learn how to become a good tournament director and take the reins from uncle Goran. There's no need to actually play competitive tennis, little one.

Nole and Marko have 46 chromosomes. They got 23 from each parent who also have 46 chromosomes each. It's possible that Nole and Marko got exactly the opposite 23 chromosomes from each parent
