Djordje has not been focusing on juniors.

Bedene? Bedene is not a nobody, just because you haven't heard of someone doesn't make them a nobody. Bozoljac is miles better than Marko as is Krajinovic.

The only reason Marko gets a WC is because he's a Djokovic obviously, which is stupid but unfortunately it's the way it is

Re: Belgrade R1: Volandri def. [WC] M. Djokovic 6-3 6-1

Are we going through all the undeserving WC talks again? Like it or not, the tournament director and Novak's family are under absolutely no obligation to give WCs to anyone. Yeah, it looks nonsensical from an outsider's perspective and I don't think this would do any good for Marko's career. Also as a tennis fan, I sorta agree with the common opinion on this board. But again, WCs aren't meant to be given to someone who deserves in the first place and this time it's not like they took it away from someone else. Who are you to teach them what they should or not then? To me running a tournament itself, which doesn't look any particularly profitable at the moment, means they are doing a favour for the home players/crowds in a way already. Really this family can't catch a break.

Just stick to ridiculing his lack of tennis skills.

ETA: While Bedene isn't a nobody (Nobody is a nobody), he's not the kind of player you can claim that 'Bozoljac was so unlucky to meet Bedene. It was such a brutal draw!'. Marko got the WC only because of his last name, Krajinovic also got his Barcelona WC most likely because of his agency, AFAIK. Don't get me wrong. He's a far better player than Marko and without the injury he would've been ranked much higher than where he is now. So I was glad he somehow received it and maximized it to get an opportunity to play a top player like Ferrer. But to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't call it that fair, either.

For the record, this is Serbia Open main draw wild cards list.

2009 S: Baghdatis, Krajinovic, Zlatanovic
D: M. Djokovic / Madjarovski, Ciric / Savic

2010 S: Krajinovic, Lajovic, M. Djokovic
D: Cacic / M. Djokovic, Savic / Zivkovic

2011 S: F. Gonzalez, Gulbis, Lajovic
D: Savic / Zekic, Bozoljac / Vemic

2012 S: Lajovic, Donskoy, M. Djokovic
D: Bozoljac / Cacic, M. Djokovic / Tosic

This clown is only playing tennis because his bro is a tennis superstar. I could name a dozen WTA players who could thrash this mug.

Marko should clearly stick to hard courts. Looked passable against Golubev but was atrocious here and against Di Mauro.

The sad thing is that if this guy wasn't called Djokovic, people would just ignore him and get on with their lives. There are thousands of guys like Marko that will never make it. To expect different because he is Nole's brother is absurd.

kinda agree with you ... Marko will never become a good player (he is like what 20yo and ranked 800 something) ... little Djordje might tho...

Being about the 1000th best player at 20 means you have no hope at a career in it, being that at 16 means you're fairly promising. Kinda funny.

And on relatives in tennis, Melzer and to a lesser degree Granollers look promising. Philip Davydenko might still have a shot too just cuz Eduard seems to be keeping him home and training him for the most part

Matosevic, Hanescu, Kukushkin, Chiudinelli, Gulbis, Bozoljac, Gabashvili, Hernych, Stakhovsky, Brown, Sousa, Garcia-Lopez, Rosol, Zeballos, Istomin, Dolgopolov, Kohlschreiber, Tursunov, Robert, Gonzalez, Monaco, Thiem, Seppi

it is what it is.

not everybody is blessed with gifts from the gods.

the fact that he is out there trying is admirable. failure only consists in no longer trying.

he could easily give up since the family is worth millions and millions but he is out there trying to make something happen for himself while doing something he loves.

he loves tennis. that should be good enough for the rest of us.

The kind of performance you put up when you're lacking belief and motivation.

Djokovic is one of few cases (in open era) of players who played an ATP 250 tournament that would easily lose to any TOP 50 WTA player.

Tipsarevic - Berlocq The Warlocq - Ferrer

Kudla - Del Potro - Cervantes - Schwartzman - Janowicz

Cilic - McGee - Lu - Goffin - Karlovic - Majchrzak - Gasquet - Harrison - Kohlschreiber - Cecchinato

honorable mentions: Roddick - Nalbandian - Magdi Somat

To be honest, he is out there trying with the WC´s his family keeps providing him, when a player of his level should be playing futures tournaments. And that would be just fine, he is never going to make it even close to the top, but if grinding futures and an occasional challenger would be his choice, then fine. Mut he is only banging his head against the wall by accepting WC´s to tournaments that are light years above his level, and he also makes his family lose all credibility they had left.

Re: Belgrade R1: Volandri def. [WC] M. Djokovic 6-3 6-1

These WCs are doing more wrong than good to Marko, he needs to work his way up from futures or challengers, of course he will never be like Nole but he can make a passable career if he works his ass off in the lower levels.

The question is: would he do it? or would he prefer to travel with his brother to GS and big tournaments?

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

That´s the question. If he truly loves tennis and wants to make it on his own, the obvious choice would be to play futures and challengers. If he´s not ready to do that, what does he think he gains with these dumb WC´s???
