Monte Carlo R3: Haase def. Bellucci 6-2 6-3

Looks like it's easier to beat injured Ferrer than fit Haase

Monte Carlo R3: Haase def. Bellucci 6-2 6-3

Utterly dreadful from Bellucci. Should really be ashamed, after such a great win yesterday. So many horrible errors, it's as if something was physically wrong. Bad serving, bad movement, bad everything. Haase held serve after nine deuces at *2-0 in the second set, which basically ended things. Saved 9/11 BPs. Not a great performance, but he was the more solid of the two, which is something you don't say often.

Haase will be top 10 before the end of this year, what a champion.

This is the stuff where legends are made of.

Haase looked a mental giant in comparison to this muppet

Re: Monte Carlo R3: Haase def. Bellucci 6-2 6-3

Bellucci breaks back at 1-3 in opener, gifts it back, loses 6 games in a row, missing 134513545s of bps. Finally converts one, and again gifts the break straight back, with a doublefault for good measure.

Haase was terrific though, solid on bps, patient in extended rallies, far fewer errors than usual.

Bellucci struggled to get through the court, ball being slowed up so much by a wet court, and made too many errors because he tried to blast through it rather than build the point.

You forgot to mention that Haase actually played well for once. Haven't seen him solid and patient since probably mid last year when he won Kizbuhel and played a good match against Murray at USO.

Haase wasn't really terrific. He was alright, and he was solid on the big points, where he played and served his best. He kept good composure. I wouldn't call it a vintage performance by any means. Bellucci was dismal.

Excellent result for Haase.
Finally following up his own words - so far at least.

Never said it was "vintage", but yeah, just "good" IMO. And "good" compared to the shit he's been producing as of late. Might be just enough to shed of Mug of the Month.
