WWW Miami R1: Querrey vs Ebden
Matty Ebden qualified and made the fourth round of Indian Wells last week, defeating Benneteau and Fish along the way before losing in straight sets to Isner. Querrey won one match in Miami last season, beating Kukushkin in straights before losing an ugly match to Troicki in the third round. Querrey has never won back to back matches in Miami and has a 4-6 record at the event, but courts are supposedly playing quicker this season so his record may not mean much.
Sam is defending his top 100 ranking this week. A loss here and he will lose his top 100 ranking and be in danger of not making the French Open MD.
This match will be the final one on the stadium court Thursday. I expect Ebden to win the match in three sets. He seems like the type who performs his best on big stages, is best when he's an underdog, and his play style and court sense should give Querrey fits. Sam is not confident right now, does not handle pressure well, and Ebden should be able to take advantage.
