WWW Miami R1: L. Mayer vs Baghdatis
Mayer has a 2-0 H2H lead in this match-up, winning both times on clay in France; in 2010 at Nice and in 2011 at the French Open. Baghdatis has had a decent start to the season with a 14-7 record but has traditionally struggled in Miami, winning only three matches and never making it past the third round. Leo won a match at Indian Wells and a match in Miami but overall hasn't been that impressive this season on hardcourt.
On paper, this seems like it should be a Baghdatis win in straights. But if the courts in Miami are playing still slow, even if they are quicker than last season, it will give Mayer a major advantage in this match and the ability for him to hit Baghdatis off the court. Plus Leo will have crowd support from the large contingent of Argentines who travel to this event every year.
I think Baghdatis wins in straights, but wouldn't be shocked to see the upset here.
