Miami R1: Haase def. [WC] Matosevic 6-3 6-4

Great unexpected win for the Dutchman. Matosevic got broken three times in the first set, once on a double fault to hand Haase a *2-1, another time after a long game where there was a significant delay in play at 3 all, and then was broken again to lose the set.

Second set, Haase saved 15-40 in the first game and broke immediately to take a 2-0 lead. He held for 3-0 but MM won three straight games to get it back on serve. Haase had two break points at 4-*3 to serve for the match, didn't take them but broke to love to win the match on return.

Robin really did a great job on return today, Matosevic only won 52% of service points. Will be interesting to know if that long break in the first set was for a medical timeout for Matosevic or not, but a good win for Robin regardless, he kept his head at the end of both sets and didn't choke away this victory.

Not surprised a WC lost to Haase, the streakiest player there ever was.

Haase can beat anyone. Obivously haven't seen the match but this win does suggest to me that Miami is playing faster than usual.

I love all aspects of TENNIS.

Federer - The Artist
Murray - The Tactician
Nalbandian - The Ballstriker
Llodra - The S/V

Most likely. Or, it could just be he's reverting back to his real level. But the long break at 3 all in the first set is ominous. With that said, Haase deserves credit here, he's a better player overall than Matosevic with a longer history of playing good tennis.

Re: Miami R1: Haase def. [WC] Matosevic 6-3 6-4

Shocking result. Very unexpected.

Tsonga - Wawrinka - Del Potro - Gasquet - F.Lopez - Monfils - Haas - Janowicz - Youzhny - Tomic - Hewitt - Gulbis - Mahut - Haase - Schoorel - Sijsling - Huta Galung - De Bakker - Van der Duim - Westerhof - Middelkoop - Koolhof - Lootsma - S&T. Griekspoor - Sels - Van Rijthoven

All time: Safin - Schalken - Krajicek - Sluiter - Verkerk - Henman - Ivanisevic - Nalbandian - Ferrero - Philippoussis - Sampras - Siemerink - Blake - F.Gonzalez - Ancic - Haarhuis/Eltingh

Still supporting all the Dutchies despite their great choking skills
Looking forward to the Dutch Futures and Challengers this summer!

The break was at 3 all (40-15) Matosevic serving. Before that moment Matosevic had won 10/10 points on serve, and shortly after they've restarted, Matosevic lost the set, winning only 1 point of the remaining 6 after 1st serve. Also, on bet365 I saw they even wrote there's an injury break happening.

This is how you do it people. Seems Matosevic was injured with that timeout, but he kept on and finished the match.

True professional, this Matosevic.

So it was an injury timeout. You're right in that he was up in the 3 all game, and it quickly went to deuce. He saved like 1-2 BPs but got broken the broken again. Too bad for MM. Guess the amount of matches he's played recently caught up with him.

Do you comment from the live score feed or you're in key biscaine? If you're on the stadium, what do you think of the court speed?

Q. Do you think you would have been able to play as well as you played today, or you think you would have pulled out from the game if it wasn't the Masters Cup final?

ROGER FEDERER: No, Roger Federer doesn't pull out. Otherwise he doesn't walk on court (smiling).

After losing to Nalbandian in 2005 TMC final...

Re: Miami R1: Haase def. [WC] Matosevic 6-3 6-4

Well I'm not in Miami but what's funny is I talked to someone on twitter who is, a friend who is at the event, he lives in the south Florida area, and I asked him about the court speed and he said that people are saying the courts are faster. I don't know if they're as fast as some make them out to be (an assumption on my behalf), but they shouldn't be very slow this season which is a positive thing.
