Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?

Isner has never had any pressure on him; no weight of expectations. Whenever he was coming up against a top 10 -- or even top 15 -- player, it was generally assumed he would lose. It's easier to play when no one expects you to win. Now he's made it to the top ten and recorded some big wins. Now we'll see how he handles it when people expect him to produce better results on a consistent basis.

In other words, way too early for these declarations.

Roger Federer * Greatest Of All Time

all of todays top 10 players are better than rodmug has ever been, heck you can make that top 20 and it would still hold up in most cases.

seems majority of MTF either have short memory or start watching tennis only in the past few years...

Read carefully. My response is about your post corresponding to Roddick and Djokovic for the years 2007/8. Have nothing to do with Roddick and Isner.

Also, before your quote, I already mentioned right now, Isner is not better than Roddick has ever been.

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?

Roddick definitely deserves more respect. He reached 50 finals and won 30 of those.
If Isner gets there one day, and if one of those 30 titles happens to be a Grand Slam, we can talk again.

Wow, one good match and the hype machine is working overtime. If Nole were American, he would've been proclaimed lord of the universe by now

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?

As of this season.

Big John Isner

Serve: 10/10
ROS: 5/10
Power: 9/10
Forehand: 8/10
Backhand: 6/10
Net Game: 6/10
Movement: 6/10
Fitness: 5/10
Mental Strength: 7/10
Tactics: 3/10
Overall: 71/100

Summary: Big John like A-Rod uses a simple game plan, outserve or outpower his opponents.

vs.

A-Rod

Serve: 8/10
ROS: 5/10
Power: 9/10
Forehand: 8/10
Backhand: 6/10
Net Game: 3/10
Movement: 3/10
Fitness: 5/10
Mental Strength: 7/10
Tactics: 2/10
Overall: 59/100

Summary: Like Big John, A-Rod uses a simple gameplan. Outpower or outserve his opponents but since he sucks nowadays, he can't really do that.

Isner is mentally stronger
-
See Wimby 09 final for proof

Plus Isner plays in a tougher era.

The ATP deserves a better class of player, and I'm gonna give it to 'em - Djoker
