Indian Wells R2: Davydenko def. [LL] Phau 7-5 6-2

Bjorn just didn't take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Davydenko played pretty good from the middle of the second set onward, and he played well to break to win the first set. Davydenko led *5-3 and lost serve on a double fault to lose his break advantage. He then had two set points at 5-*4 to win the set on return. At 5 all, Phau had two break points, and that was when Davydenko raised his game. Bjorn really wasn't there after that.

Disappointed in a major way. Had Bjorn just taken the first set, I think this match was right there for him. Davydenko wasn't moving that great today, his overall game is still very up and down, but he continued showing flashes of his old self and did what he needed to do to win the match.

Much needed win for Davy. If he can just do well over the next couple of weeks he might be able to sneak in and grab a seeding at the french which would be huge for him

He didnt play great but he did what he needed to do. Took advanatge of this opening and im glad he did

The much needed win would have been for Phau. He needed the win more than Davydenko. Bjorn would have been top 100 if he won this, and he failed.

Though the diffrence is that Davy deserves being seeded for RG and Phau doesnt deserve better ranking spot than he currently has.

Would be bad for the game if he somehew managed to grab 45 points with just one win over injured Davy.

Why does Davy "deserve" to be seeded for RG?

A rather sloppy match but happy that Davydenko got the job done in straights. Hope he recovers from whatever is ailing him. Davai, Kolya!

He has a leg/calf injury. So I think he's going to have to just hope it holds up.

Easy one.

yeah but at this stage davy can use all the wins he can get. Hopefully if he can make runs in bigger tournaments it can help with his confidence.

i think if he can get back to being seeded at the slams that would be great for him too. Especially the french where he has the best chance of making a run

Two smooth wins in a row, nice. Should hopefully reach at least R4.

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo
