Re: Which players do you believe have the best/worst footwork?

I definitely agree about Ferrero, he really has strong footwork, even to this day, although not as good as it once was. I love the way he moves into position and sets to hit backhands. That reminds me of Moya, his feet would look glued to the floor hitting backhands but his forehand footwork was so sharp, how he would run around backhands from positions most wouldn't believe possible. I also think Seppi has very good footwork most of the time.

I disagree about Bjorn, though, he's ultra fast but I think his footwork gets lazy too often. The fast guys can rely on their speed too much to bail them out. Of course Fabio is just lazy-acting with everything he does on court.

Tipsarevic has good footwork. Positions himself very nicely to crack his forehand. Sets his base well and explodes.

I think you guys are remembering the Fed footwork of five years ago. Nowadays he shanks off of both sides due to lazy footwork.
Tomic has really lazy foot work for someone so young.

Tommy Haas when he was at his best was well balanced offensively and defensively. Hard to rate him now since all the problems.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

"Pete is a step and a half slower." (Greg Rusedski after losing to Pete Sampras in the US Open)

"Against him I don't need to be a step and a half quicker." ( Pete Sampras responding to Greg Rusedski's criticism - he went on to win the title! )

No doubt..Roger has the best footwork 8)

Roger Federer

Form is temporary, class is permanent

"The more you lose, the more they believe they can beat me. But believing is not enough, you still have to beat me" RF.

"He is capable of hitting shots which others don't even think about trying" Lendl on RF.

Re: Which players do you believe have the best/worst footwork?

Roger has lost a step but still has one of the most brilliant footwork in tour:

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...r-graphic.html

Djokovic has great court positioning but doesn't have great footwork, that's why you see him scrambling for many balls when he's wrongfooted, he's very fast and knows how to play to the strengths of his game but I don't believe his footwork is that good.

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Federer and Nadal.

Watch how Nadal walks around his backhand, especially on grass and clay. Those little quick steps, it's brilliant. And Federer isn't called ballerina for no reason.

Re: Which players do you believe have the best/worst footwork?

Kohlschreiber has great footwork.

Berdych hasn't the best footspeed but from seeing him a few times in person his footwork seems very efficient.

A bit on the fence re. Dolgopolov - he certainly has rapid foot speed but at times seems to get the footwork wrong.

Re: Which players do you believe have the best/worst footwork?

Dolgopolov is a shot selection issue.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
