Thinking shortcuts. Match point is a set point as well but we say otherwise about it when it's in a deciding set or in a set which precedes a decider.

irrelevant

Lajovic's third set was a bigger choke than Bubka's first set

Lajovic's match was also a bigger choke, thus he holds both titles

And that's the reason I wrote "in a set" instead of "the biggest choke of the year" because a moment before entering this thread I read about Lajovic.

?

Bubka's set wasn't the biggest choke. Lajovic's third set was.

Will be very interesting to see him now vs. Monfils in the next round. A mental win like this should give Davydenko a lot of confidence.

Got love the MTF tards, none saw the match but everybody "knows" it was chocke rather than a comeback.

I'm afraid you don't understand my way of thinking. It doesn't mater if it concerns only this thread.

Re: Indian Wells R1: Davydenko def. Bubka 7/5 6/3 (warning: extreme choke)

I saw the match(not all of it) im not exactly sure what happened at the start, i got there when davy was 0-4 down. He definately wasnt playing well at that point but from the point when he was almost bageled there was almost nothing sergei could have done. Its like a switch went on because davy played great stuff from that point on.

In my oppinion it was more that davy fought back and showed his class over sergei. I wouldnt really call it a choke, just a case of the better player suddenly finding his game

Theres a 99% this was a choke of some sort. No professional player should lose a match from 5-0 40-15 up unless the opposition turned into god for the rest of the set.

It's a really bad match-up for Bubkha, who's got very tame rally shots that he moves around the court a lot, so gives Denko chances to hit on the run, where he is lethal.
