it's a double edged sword. Rafa and Nole do play grueling points so extra time may be needed in their matches, but he doesn't need 30 seconds in other rounds. So you have to enforce it by perception and the matchup.

Yet another pathetic excuse of explaining why he cannot beat Nadal. The old geezer bitching about the decline he keeps denying. What else is new?

BTW, are there any time rules in badminton and squash?

Haha Federer simply doesn't care anymore! It is pretty funny to witness. I much prefer this (when he blatantly calls guys out) than when he gave little subtle jabs that left people guessing as to who he was referring to.

He also happens to be right. But he forgot to include Djokovic.

I think badminton is like 5 seconds between points. Not sure. But badminton is definitely more grueling.

WTF, may be needed? Based on what?

New ATP rule:
Quote:
Rafa gets 90 seconds between points because he's so intense he runs everything, what a Spartan, he plays so many grueling points he deserves more time. It's unfair, but he is so clutch.
What the hell is that?

I'd like to see your stamina after having 20-30 shot rallies in the heat and then playing another one 15 seconds later.

who cares what Rog thinks. the fact that Nadal takes few more secs in between points is simply not that important.

He should have talked about toweling down whilst he was at it. Things have to change but of course they will not. When people take extra time after a long rally that is ok but not on every damn point.

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting

I think Roger is a class act and I do like him very much but I feel like he has been complaining a bit too much lately.

there is no reason to only call out Nadal, as someone mentioned, in the Australian Open final DJokovic took just as long or longer in between points.

The problem isn't a particular player which is why it is dissapointing to see Federer mention Nadal's name. It is the system, the umpires do not always stick to the rule and because of this gray area it leaves it kind of open ended for players to follow or not.

They need to either made clauses for when players can take longer (certain # stroke rally, or duration of time of play) OR entirely keep the rules of time management or get rid of them.

Nadal does take a long time, but if the umpires refuse to take action and penalize him why would he stop? Federer should know to refrain from personal jests but instead direct his focus towards the actual officials and rulings.

agree something should be changed about this rule and it's enforcement, but surprised by Roger's many criticisms of late... almost like he is making up for not being in the limelight as much

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting

i think alex is right here folks. it is not worth worrying about. let the umpires handle this.

it is not that critical so why worry about it. and more importantly, why piss off a guy like nadal. i dont see the point really.

nobody else out there is capable of playing 6 hour matches so why not leave clay warror and no-djok alone. they can use it against you.

i personally would not fuck with nole and the clay warrior but that is me. let the umpires handle this.

i know in the NFL players use anything they can against you. so it is better to be diplomatic or say nothing at all.

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting

Finally Roger said what he wanted to say since a long long time. But due to his illusion of his Nice Self Image he was restricting himself to say that. And what worse he was deflecting all that hate towards Nadal to Djokovic somehow.

This is nice Roger. We wanna see that nastier side of you more and more. Not that it is purely entertaining but it will bring you back to where you were once before.

Good for the Game.

These long matches are 1 hour longer because these guys are wasting time between points. Lets not make it sound like it only happens after long points. They abuse the clock incessantly - I'm surprised all these pussy umpires can sit there and do nothing with a straight face.

all the whiners, complainers, and the weepers:

1. tuck your skirts in

2. go become umpires so you can change things

3. finally, stop weeping and bitching. you are grown people. i think.
