Indian Wells R1: Stakhovsky def. Bogomolov 7-6(7) 4-6 7-6(3)

Another topsy-turvy, crazy match. Bogomolov missed four first serves and double faulted twice to get broken at 2 all in the first set, but Sergiy fell behind 0-40 and was eventually broken at *4-3. They both held from there to get into a first set tiebreak. Stakhovsky won both return points at 2-*1 and took a *5-1 and *6-4 tiebreak lead, which he blew. Bogo had a set point at 7-*6. Sergiy won three straight points to win the first set. Both guys held serve with a little struggle in the second set until 3 all, where Stakhovsky's 30% first serve percentage up to that point cost him and he was broken. Stakhovsky had three break points in a long game when Bogo was serving for the second set at *5-4 and didn't take them.

Third set, Bogomolov had two break points in the opening return game and didn't take them; Stakhovsky then had four break points in a very long game at 2-*1. From there both held relatively comfortably until 5-*4, where Bogo staved off a few deuces, and 5 all, where Stakhovsky came back from 0-*40 down to get to two game points but was eventually broken in another marathon game. Serving for the match, Bogo immediately fell behind 0-40 and was broken to 15.

In the tiebreak, Stakhovsky went from down 2-*3 to winning five straight points to win the tiebreaker. Up and down dramatic match, but the Ukraine finally got through in the end.

translation: zero testicular fortitude for bogo the blundering coward.

he should have been able to serve the match out. he is truly useless. make that worthless.

I've seen Bogomolov play in AO and I have never seen worse tennis in my life. He's a clown of epic proportions and it's a shock he even has a single ATP ranking point. His place is amongst futures players, because what passes for his attempts to play tennis is utterly pathetic.
