Indian Wells QFR: Bemelmans def. Gil 6-4 3-6 6-4
Fred had a *3-1 lead in the third. Which really should have been a double break lead as he had 15-40 to take a *2-0 lead. Got broken to love and then broken to 30. Had 30 all down 3-*4 but couldn't break back.
Unacceptable result to a guy who really isn't that great outdoors, had plenty of chances and didn't take them. Fred will have the first opportunity at a LL position, so we'll see if he gets lucky.
gil knew he was a certain lucky loser before hand, he played this match in a fun spirit.
This. He already knew he was in as LL when they played. Still should have won, but it just starts now, really. And already with an impossible 2nd round, so unfortunately, it will be over soon. Gil will be playing challengers for a while, after Monte Carlo, but maybe good for his game to have to climb his way again.
