agassi WAS ROBBED BY THE LINESMAN'S NO-CALL in 2004. federer benefitted from
his usual luck.

in 2012, real great young top 20 players ages 18-28 are not going to be
masochistic mentally ill losers like roddick.
deal with it.

Nadal was an opponent in both 04 Miami and 05 Miami.

The latter two dwarf the first group in slam counts, but only cos the courts got slowed.

you won't see wrinkled tennis abortion roddick in a publicity stunt, where he nearly gets
charged for physically injuring a ball girl with his mindless racket thrashing
.

you won't see roddick crying to his mommy anymore.
even djokovic's comedy trumps roddick's.

Re: What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?

ITF speed measurements had it a 1/3 under the old system, then a 1/5 in 2006 (which is the same as most clay). Last time they measured was 2010, it had gone up to a 2/5. That's still stupidly slow, and the change probably only means is that it was on the border between the two, margin of error stuff.

Either way, it's slow slow slow.

lol dick was in the miami final 3 times, beat coria in 2004 after barely getting by moya in the semi.
dick played badly in all other fast courts for 10 years. no indoor hardcourt masters finals.

ANd Safin and Nalby of those days would have a 50-50 H2H against top 2 on HC...can be bothered to go look up the H2H Nalby - Nadal on HC...

Or Fed may have the luxury of not facing slam winner talents like Nole and Rafa during 04, 05 and 06.

Rather, he has those talents capable of a one slam wonder or 2.

Re: What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?

the competition is what has changed.... look at field of 04/06. it was not anywhere near as good as what it became a few years later.

others are right in also pointing out that Roger was sublime in those years, at his prime, but the competition just was not that great in 04-06. Murray/Djokovic had not stepped up and who's left? Roddick with his mental problems, a Nalbandian who never shows up until the end of the year? I don't necessarily think that the field is THAT amazing currently but 04-06 Federer was at his best and there was no one else playing at such incredible level or close

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Rafael Nadal

Are you and others talking about the Roddick that won Miami 2010 and almost won Indian Wells that same season? THAT Roddick? let's see, since 2010 there's only been one more year... And in 2010, didn't that Roddick defeat Nadal - maybe I'm not remembering well

Hmm, the Roddick who was such a desperately weak opponent for Fed, suddenly years later became a masterful opponent for Nadal. Oh Occam, Occam, wherefore art thy razor?

Rafa and Nole will always be remembered as the homogenized champions who had all GS surfaces catered to their every whim.

Re: What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?

we can also say it like. 2004 to 2006 is the battle of Roger vs transitions number ones.

2007 and beyond were Roger vs the next generation of number ones and should I say dominant number ones.
