Henman fans - let's cross our fingers!!!

Oh dear oh dear oh dear!!! I knew that the entry list for Madrid would go against him. Had Federer, Roddick, Hewitt etc been here then a title for Agassi / Fat David / Marat would have been somewhat unexpected. The 67 point lead over his next challenger would have been pretty much sufficient to take him to Houston. But oh no! He has to do it the hard way and put us through hell!!! Now he is likely to drop to 7th in the Race (now the last qualifying place, after Gaudio drops out of the top 8) and will hold a slender lead over the next challenger (likely to be the loser of the Agassi/Safin match. Tim won't lose his Houston berth until Paris but nevertheless...is anyone else feeling a little doubtful he'll make it?

I have my doubts as to whether he'll play Basel but he only needs 34 points to pretty much secure a place at Houston and 38 points to definitely make it. That is equivalent to a final at Basel. If he doesn't play / loses early then Paris is pivotal and how many times has he lost his chance there?!!! With Agassi, Safin and Nalbandian fighting for his place he has so much left to do. Being defending champion at Paris will add to the pressure and unless he makes significant ground in Basel, i sense an early departure in Paris and possibly his Houston hopes dashed.

It wil be gutting if he doesn't make it. He has such a great year thanks to great preformances in 7 tournaments and it would be a shame if he loses his place to a nemesis, an old man or an enigma.

Re: Henman fans - let's cross our fingers!!!

it seems he likes to make things difficult for himself.
I hope he can make it to Houston but i'm not sure its going to happen

Rafa Nadal Juanqui Ferrero

Marat Safin Carlos Moya Feli Lopez Nando Verdasco Richie Gasquet

Robredo Guga Garcia-Lopez Ferrer Tomeu

Interviewer: It surprises people how well you get on with Nadal
Carlos Moya: I can't conceal that. I love him very much and I knew that one day he would be better than me. He's on another level.

it will depend partly on the draws hes getting at Basel & Paris, he's been lucky with draws this year so he better hope for that to continue and then he'll probably make it.

the loser of the agassi/safin match will still be below our Tim in the race.

if they both surpass him then he can still get in if Coria/moya withdraw, but I haven't heard anything yet.

It's the same old, same old goddamn bullshit... That last set against Ljubicic was abominable -I've never seen him throw in such a self-defeating final set at the end of what had been an alright performance in the initial two.

I think it's time to console ourselves with the fact that this has still been his best season ever, and whatever happens from here on in can't change that.

I AM crossing my fingers tightly, including my toes! I don't want him to end up as the player who 'juussst' missed the cut like what happened in 2002 (why does the French Open champ always seems to edge him out of the Masters Cup - Costa last time?). But Basel is traditionally a strong event for Tim (won it twice , got to the final at least 2 other times, and usually loses only to the eventual champion), so I'm pretty confident that he's gonna rake in the points to clinch that much coveted spot in Houston.
