the Sampras test

For some reason i keep thinking that Federer and Roddick against sampras was a reflection of their future careers. when Fed played sampras in Wimbledon they had an unforgettable classic match and Fed won. While the roddick vs sampras match in the US open 2002 was like a tennis clinic where sampras toyed around roddick like a challenger level player. Federer became one of the greatest players while roddick became a one slam*(asterisk because i don't think he deserved it)and is now starting to fade really fast.

Re: the Sampras test

what a stupid thing to say
Roddick deserved his USO title as much as Federer has deserved any of his slams. Roddick would have been a "great" player if not for one guy. Gee, give the dude some credit. He has played very high level of tennis for over 10 years. He is fading now and I hope he will show the good sense to hang his boots, his best days seem well behind him. But for what its worth, the guy has actually been a better player than people give him credit for just because of his record against his nemesis.

"In my opinion he's the best player ever. When you play tennis, playing Federer is kind of a dream because you can see he does everything you would love to do on the court" - Fabrice Santoro

some day, years from now, some may refer to it as the federer test

Re: the Sampras test

I saw the match between him and nalbandian. and Nalbandian got cheated on that match. i will stand by my call that he did not deserve it. everything else is acceptable like his fighting spirit and work ethics but the slam after what i saw was outright cheating not by andy but by umpire and lines men.

Re: the Sampras test

Roddick should have won at least 3 slams in his career, so to say his one was a fluke isn't really fair.

Re: the Sampras test

I think Roddick deserved a slam in his career..at least.

But im not sure it was the one he actually won..if that makes sense.

I think the one he really deserved was Wimbledon 2004
