If Fed goes deep in both Rome and RG, surely he will pull out of Halle...

interesting stats. they're almost equal (except weeks at #1).

well i think he is in the final in rome and he may end up in the final at RG.

so you are right. no need for halle under those circumstances.

Re: Roger Federer : The Swiss King's Quest For 100 Titles

Rome will have no effect on Halle, only RG final would make Halle unlikely. And most of us will probably agree that even a losing effort in RG final is more important than anything in Halle...

I think his biggest priority is Wimbledon ATM, so he will definitely want some kind of warm up tournament for the grass.

I love all aspects of TENNIS.

Federer - The Artist
Murray - The Tactician
Nalbandian - The Ballstriker
Llodra - The S/V

He has won several titles there without any grass warm ups so I wouldn't be worried about it too much.

Re: Roger Federer : The Swiss King's Quest For 100 Titles

A final at RG would definitely cross out Halle as as the difference b/w a SF and a F at RG is two Halle titles and Roger's already counting all possible ATP 500 and 250 results. However, I am not too sure Halle's organisers would find it pleasing to see Fedster skip their tournament for the 2nd year in a row after he signed a lifetime contract with them .

CD, I am interested to know what you think about Roger's RG F chances if he plays Nadal there.

RG is off limits mate. you already know what happens at RG finals if the clay warrior is involved.

i do not rule out a RG final for fed. it may happen based on the draw.

Yeah well, no fame and glory involved for getting the answer to that question right...

Too bad Soderling is not around any more.

Re: Roger Federer : The Swiss King's Quest For 100 Titles

soderling got very lucky. he got an injured nadal that day who could not push off his right leg. he also could hardly bend his knees.

soderling got his shot at a more healthy nadal and you what happened. if anything, soderling was playing the best he ever had in that final against nadal.

dont hang your hat on an outlier of a match like that one. it means absolutely less than nothing in terms of history.

That match reminded me a little bit Pete's loss to Krajicek at Wimbledon. He also was almost unbeatable at one specific GS, but then one year stars were simply against him...

That Soderling comment wasn't really meant seriously anyway. But highly unexpected things do happen in our sport from time to time and nothing is completely certain. If it wasn't so it would resemble pro wrestling and I would definitely not watch...

Re: Roger Federer : The Swiss King's Quest For 100 Titles

I'd like Fed to play Halle, that tournament says "Federer" from all angles.

But if he has a good run at RG, i'm ok with him not playing Halle.

Regarding Rome.
I'd say the same I said before. I think Fed has a great chance of beating Novak. 60% chances for Fed right now.
He's playing great tennis, great tennis, and Novak, in the other hand, isn't the same as 2011. I don't think Novak 3.0 scares Fed, specially if Fed defeated the best Djokovic ever on clay.

Now... Nadal is a different thing, he defeated a really, really good Berdych today.
So, he's still my first choice for the Rome champion.

But, as we said in my country "Los partidos hay que jugarlos" (Matches should be played), and before the match ends, we don't know what's gonna happen. Surprises and upsets are posible.
You can play your best match one day and a crappy one next day (You can trust me, i'm a Tsonga fan, haha )
