San Jose SF : Istomin def. Benneteau 6-3 6-7(4) 6-3

Well deserved win for Istomin, nerves of steel on the backhand pass to break for 5-3 in the 3rd.

Hope he can take the title.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Makes the final more interesting, anyway. Benneteau was completely outclassed last week by Milos and probably would have been again. Istomin looks like he could at least challenge him.

Tennis and humanity weep as this beauty leaves the stage.

I love watching Benneteau- he played a good match but Istomin was too solid. Great shot making, great variety, lots of winners- exciting match. The opposite of the earlier semifinal.

I don't know much about Istomin, but any guy that can do the full splits on a sliding on a hardcourt gets my approval. Definitely rooting for him in the finals against the servebot.

Istomin has been destined for great things ever since the 2011 ACC winner put him in the trash player category.

So happy!

I have been a fan of Denis for a few years, got to see him in the New Haven final and got a picture with him in New Haven, he's such a nice guy, and I'm so glad for him, he's done well at this tournament and the final will be excellent for me regardless of the result, but I hope Denis wins, he's been through a lot in the past and Milos has already won here.
