San Jose R1 : Russell def. Young 6-1 7-6 (6)

Well done Iron Mike, the man who has to walk through doors sideways because the quads are that big.

He is the guy who worked for everything against DY, who had everything handed to him. Good old Young makes top 50, then sacks the people that got him there, the game isn't the problem so much, it's upstairs.

Best of all DY was up *5-3 in the 2nd, then Russell tried to serve it out at *6-5, plays a shit game. The TB was comedy capers Russell up *5-4, then hits 2 doubles. DY makes an error on his set point.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

DY is such a mess, going back to your mother after reaching the top 40 with others. At least the Twitter outbursts are appearing with less frequency.

Happy Russell won, one of the hardest workers on tour.

At the end of the match DY threw the racquet into the court.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

young is pretty overranked at the moment, let's see where he will be after the US open. my guess is, nowhere near top 50.

I can't believe Murray ever lost to this guy. Murray was on a walk about during that time but losing to this mug is unacceptable. The current American players tarnish the legacy of Sampras, Agassi, Connors, Ashe and Courier.

Here I thought DY turned a corner last year, but now he gets the parents back in.

Fucking idiot. Ditch the parents, man, I know it is tough. Go with who got you there.

I feel it's a shame I managed to miss this. A damn shame.

Don with his Mum is barely top 100 quality. Don without his Mum is top 40 quality. Interesting phenomenon.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

You can't hand someone victories on the ATP tour. Young still had to win them on his own.
