DC: Austria-Russia 3:1 (Melzer def. Bogomolov 6-2 6-4 6-1)

Melzer was too much for Bogomolov, he destroyed him in the third set

Austria in the QF of Daviscup for the first time since 17 years

Next opponent Spain

Bogomolov should be banned from DC. Complains about not getting the chance to play then he loses six out of seven sets to Haider-Mauer and a struggling Melzer.

Stronga,Monfils,DelPo,Nalbandian,Berdych,Gulbis,Ha as and Djokovic are the players I support the most.

That's what he gets for switching nationalities.

I feel so sorry for Youzhny and Davydenko. So much fighting yesterday for nothing. Wouldn't be surprised if they both lose in 1st round of Rotterdam.

If Youzhny - who is reportedly injured - plays Rotterdam

Anyway, the Russians' visit to Austria was 5 years too late.

Well done Austria! Great tie from them.

And now Spain away on clay. Shame - Melzer deserved better. Melzer did beat Novak at RG though & got to the semi in 2010 - can he carry the team to victory by winning both singles - they have a good doubles team too.... Doubtful but they can hope at least.

Good one Jurgen.

Logic wins again

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

David Nalbandian

Good tie Melzer . He should defeat Ferrero/Granollers against Spain, and definitely has a chance against Almagro.

USA probably sent Bogomolov to Russia because they knew he would implode. Probably Cold War era bitterness.
