It was a reasonable assumption that he would lose - #276 v #65. And a #65 in good enough form to reach an ATP final last week (which might have been why his game was a bit off - tired maybe).

The real surprise was Dan's improved attitude - he has plenty of talent but in the past has not shown great fighting qualities. Yesterday he did, and well done to him.

Dan wins a 5 setter vs Klizan to win the tie for GB. Amazing scenes there.

Some performance from Dan yet again! James Ward looks pissed as hell though!

Daniel Evans clinching the tie in an epic 5 setter?

What a win for the British! They play Belgium right after Miami, for a chance to go to the World Group playoffs in September. Will Murray come back?

He'll probably have to if GB want to win. Evans AND Ward would both need to play way higher than their ranking to have a chance.

Incredible! Absolutely incredible!

Two astonishing performances this weekend, to beat two seasoned pros in and around the top 100.

And, as I said in the DC thread, the best Davis Cup performance from Hutchins and Fleming imo as well.

What a win! Without Murray, the tie wasn't lost. But it was hard to see how we were going to win three points overall.

I think a lot of credit should also go to Leon Smith and the rest of the team...evidently they prepared extremely well for this tie (as I'm sure they had done for the previous ones), and they are saying/doing something to instil direction and belief in our players. It would have been so easy for Evans to lose heart after being pegged back by Klizan, but he found a way through. A complete contrast to previous ties before Smith took over.

Genuinely the best tie I can think of since the height of the Henman and Rusedski years. Well done!

Hmmm, tough. IW and Miami would be very gruelling for him, assuming he challenges for both titles. However, if he does a 2011, he will need the match practice!

Really he ought to play, at least out of respect for the team's performance this weekend. The tie would be played on indoor hard (I'd go medium-quick), so he doesn't need to change surface.

Playing Belgium gives us a genuine shot at WG qualifying again, so hopefully that will motivate him enough.

And, considering some of the teams dropping out of the World Group this year, we'd have a good chance of drawing a winnable tie for World Group qualifying as well.

Very, very exciting!

So much about the slovakian sex machine being ranked in top 50 soon.

Why is he so streaky? He's making Gulbis look a consistant player.

Great win. This Leon Smith is good.
