Great win and confidence builder for John. Keep it up big man! I really thought the Swiss would win this 3-2. We shall see.

WTF? I turned this off at 1-1 and 0-40 on isners serve in the 4th and come back to see he held and won the set? isner was gifted this match back should have never got to a tb and was a a set and a break down. SMH

I would be satisfied just with straight bouncing

Re: DC Round 1: Isner defeats Federer 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-2 (USA leads 2-0)

(taken from live commentary thread)
The high bouncing clay definitely and obviously worked in the tall Mr. Isner's favor. So much for Mr. Federer's RG practice session. Mr. Federer needs to play low slice to Mr. Isner to give him the most trouble and make Mr. Isner move. But with high bounces it's difficult to hit good slice, as much as it is trying to hit a one handed backhand with power.

Congratulations to the USA team for sweeping the opening day. Mr. Isner served and played quite well (especially after 3rd set tb), and I'm sure once he and Mr. Courier saw the way the ball was taking off, Isner went for more shots to take advantage of that. Team USA has to be favored now.

The home team definitely has to question the clay court implementation with extremely high bounce characteristics.
Very strange.
I would expect most on the planet know that Mr. Federer prefers low bouncing courts.

Respectfully,

Gotta download this one.

From the reports here, seems like Isner was awesome, taking the confidence from taking Rafa to 5 at RG 1st round into this match. HUGE win for Isner, holy shit, on clay in Swiss vs. Federer himself? Watch out John Isner to make top 10 this year.

Federer clearly never had the champion mentality...he was only so much better than the pack for awhile he was never tested. I think only now we can see the true colors of Frauderer.

How do you think Isner took Nadal to 5 sets at Roland Garros last year? See some highlights, Isner's serve were bouncing like 3m of the floor. Nadal needed 3 sets until gets the way on return his serves.

If he didn't care, why would he put himself through such physical exertion less than a week before his next tournament?

Didn't see the match.

Seems like everyone is thinking Fed didn't tank this one? Isner actually beat him?
