Maybe Federer is done (or not), but most of his records will remain. His fair on court behaviour will hopefully give an example for the younger generation.
He surely is not a player, who will be forgotten as soon as he hangs up the racket.
Everybody said the same about Connors, Agassi, Sampras...goat cheese is just another player, he has nothing special

For someone, who is blind or not willing to see, then yes. But let me say this. Even if he is not the goat, he is a bit more special than your fave, no?

Federer really wasn't born for Davis Cup it seems.

Big John jinxed Federer calling him an RG legend.

Losing to Nadal at Wimbledon was more embarrassing by a mile.

So you think Carl Uwe-Steeb was a stronger Davis Cup teammate than Wawarinka?

Becker won twice against against power house Sweden who fielded Wilander, Edberg and Anders Jarryd. Becker’s teammates were Eric Jalen and Carl-Uwe Steeb..

Before that in 1985, Germany reached the final against Sweden and Becker had as his teammates Michael Westphal and Andreas Mauer.

It was extremely hard on Becker and probably detracted from his singles results, and Becker opted out of DC for a couple of years to pursue his goal of becoming the top ranked player. I don’t say that Fed needs to be a DC warrior, but I think if he really wanted to, he could have carried Switzerland to at least a DC final — especially in the years 2003 − 2007.

Fans like you with their noses in the air are one reason why Federer has haters.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

From what I saw it looked like the bounce was high on that court. I don't understand why they would pick a high bouncing court given what can happen with Federer's backhand. I suppose they figured the bounce wouldn't matter given the US players' styles, but it still seems like a bad move. I would think they would go for the lowest bouncing court possible so that Federer can hit all his backhands in the strike zone, in which case he's still nearly unbeatable.

The U.S. commenters were saying the court was so bad with poor bounces that it gave the U.S. an advantage. I’m not sure how that works exactly. Supposedly, this is something Mardy also noted.

I think one of the reasons for the high bounce is also the altitude, although not particularly high, it’s 2,000 feet.

Found little highlight video, it isnt much, few points only

http://youtu.be/2MUl_JHuVqg

About bad bounces. How it works: player who stays on baseline is more vulnerable to bad bounces. Player, who comes to the net on first opportunity, volleys a lot and serves from the tree has advantage. My guess is Isner and Fish are players, who are eager to come to the net, even on clay. And you can play well on clay without grinding 30 stroke rallies on baseline. Edberg and Mac were in RG final with S&V and it was dead slow, super high bounce "old" clay...
