looky here, guess tw wasn't big enough to contain this piece of work. Welcome i guarantee your stay here will be infinitely longer than your previous choice of residence, Nad-loving moderation agrees.

They always think you have to win everything, it always needs to be a success story, and if it's not obviously what is the point. Maybe you have to go back and think, Why have I started playing tennis? Because I just like it. It's actually sort of a dream hobby that became somewhat of a job. Some people just don't get that ever."

I'm not THAT surprised actually. I knew Isner could be a tough match-up for Federer even on slow clay considering his excellent display of agressive clacourt tennis against Nadal at RG.
I suppose Roge had absolutely zero willingness to fight for this match since things started to go wrong.
Truth is Federer has never been really comitted for the Davis Cup and the fact of his decline only emphasizes that.

Your ban at TT was a devastating loss for all who enjoyed your abundancy of genuine pearls of wisdom-posts over there. Glad to see you haven't given up on it but now convert your attention to us over here, poor souls that we are.

This is not a big deal. Federer will be fine this season. Remember Murry last year lost to Donald Young, DONALD YOUNG (who is much less dangerous than Isner, tennis wise), yet Murry still made 4, yes 4 straight Slam semis plus won a handful of tournaments to include a couple Masters even after that. See, it's not the end of the world folks, Fed will be fine.

Great post. Its a pitty than the always arrogant and bitter Federer fanbase can't agree.

1) People generally can relate to (and gain inspiration from) players who rely on great work ethic, more than great talent.

There are two main reasons people enjoy sports.

First one is shared with any other show or entertainment spectacle: people enjoy seeing human talent and skills shining on the big stage. Hedonism at its best.

The second one is that sports is the greatest inspirational source of our time. Effort and competitiveness to try to maximize the talent gifted to you and try to achieve all you can... is there any better metaphor? Some people love athletes with limited natural talent but getting great achievements in spite of this.

For me being a fan of a guy who was born with a enormous talent does not make sense. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them but they don't inspire me...

2) People generally prefer humble people.

Federer has the right to be arrogant. I really don't have any problem with this. What bothers me is his fanbase. Mostly bitter, humorless, arrogant, always neglecting the rest of the players and fanbases. Few people really have something against Federer IMO, but many of us enjoyed seeing his fangirls humiliated

3) Federer's game is modelled on the text book. When you watch Federer vs Nadal live at the AO, it is Nadal's unorthodox shots that look more spectacular and more entertaining.

Very true too. He play a classical baseline/all around tennis at a very high level but on the contrary of Rafa he hasn't brought anything new to the game. I don't understand what is the problem Fedtards have to recognize this fact.

Awwwww.... Poor little Muger lost again, huh?

Let's face it folks, everybody KNEW Muger was going to lose. That's what Muger does nowadays. I'm tired of seeing Frauderer continue to live up to his name. It would be refreshing if he even put up a fight once in awhile instead of completely HUMILIATING himself over and over again. Rafa had him for breakfast at the AO, Isner just had an in between meal snack.

Muuuuuuuugerrrrrrr! YOU are a disgusting, sickening, maudlin, phony, all-serve DISGRACE to the sport !!! Never have I seen a spectacle this repulsive in my entire life. You don't CHOKE like that when Isner has gifted you a set and a half lead, Muger !!! You just PLAIN SUCK, Muger! And you wonder why fans are DEMANDING that you retire?! Look at the scoreboard, chump!!!

MUGER FRAUDERER, You make me feel NAUSEOUS !!!

John, thanks for taking out the garbage on Friday. I know it wasn't a tough task for you to do, but thanks anyway.

Yeah, Federer is famed for his lack of workrate. If only he put a bit more into his sport he could have won a peerless amount of slams and stayed at the top of the game into his 30's.

People absolutely detest clearly false humility. "For sure chhI am not tha fahhvoreet....for sure ees Roger, no? chHHee play unbeleafable...chI only win chhRoland Gahros seex times....but he is best of tha heestory, no? chII am only poor humble chIslandboy, no?". Had to laugh last year when Nads was on the end of yet another humping from Nole...when asked what he was going to do to be effective against Djoke - "Jast keep working with beeg illusion....and every day with the hahmble". Yeah Rafa...I am not so sure you maintain I persona of humility by *saying* you are humble!

Re: DC Round 1: Isner defeats Federer 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-2 (USA leads 2-0)

I don't see a lot of bitter fedfans around, but some bitter anti fed fans, who are not willing to discuss, but only giving proof of their constant frustration. They are that frustrated because without doubt, there has never been a player, who was given so much respect from the public. There was never a player with a bigger fanbase. There was hardly a player with better technique, or with such elegance. And after all he is also respected highly by his peers. Sure this is bad to accept from the anti fed fans, it is easy to understand.
Maybe Federer is done (or not), but most of his records will remain. His fair on court behaviour will hopefully give an example for the younger generation.
He surely is not a player, who will be forgotten as soon as he hangs up the racket.
