Re: Knee injury ruing my life- Monfils

Jesus Christ man, just take some time off. Montpelier was unnecessary if the injury is so bad physically and especially mentally if you feel it is ruining your life. I've had tough knee injuries. You can barely walk, let alone run, without major pain with every fucking step, and the pain pills and anti-inflammatory stuff only works short-term. It led me down a bad path, and they still ain't healed 100%, hopefully Gael can get his issues fixed.

Take some time off, and get healed, Gael.

Didn't see anywhere saying he's heading for major surgery, maybe it's not that bad. Anyway, still hoping that he can make DC in Vancouver, he said he's ready to play on final day. But if his knee is bad, he shouldn't risk.

Re: Knee injury ruing my life- Monfils

Feb 7th's L'Equipe said Gael is already in Vancouver. Forget is not mentioning a possibility of a 5th player yet.

COUPEDAVIS

Where is the title of this thread coming from?

The knee injury is self inflicted to an extent. Something was clearly fucked against Kukushkin.

yes I heard nothing like that in France, seemingly only a fear from the OP.

Re: Knee injury ruing my life- Monfils

Would it be too evil to mention the elephant in the room regarding his knee?

Yeah well, an injury like that can be nasty and can take a long time to recover from, but maybe he'll come back with a new perspective on how to use his skills without damaging his body as much.

I used to be your everyday average Joe. Then one day some guy told me I can do whatever I set my heart on. So I tried to fly, and failed. He then told me that there are limitations in life and that I should be more modest in my aspirations. So I robbed a convenience store and got arrested. He then told me not to take everything people say literally, and to use my own initiative. So I became a Trump supporter, and am politely asking you to leave my country.

Re: Knee injury ruing my life- Monfils

Monfils tends to be pretty jerky/jumpy in his movements compared to many other players. He just likes to do those insane direction switches and crowd pleasing smash shots. I could imagine they are killers on the knees especially for a tall guy like him. Easy to forget that Monfils is 193 cm. I always think of him as 185cm or so because he is so blazing fast compared to many guys around the same height.

I think Monfils problem is the speed. It might be a blessing for his game but for his knees it's a curse. He has a lot more force to slow down than many other of the taller guys when he goes for those wide shots. Think he should intentionally play more aggressive on the fast and hard surfaces to save his knees.

Re: Knee injury ruing my life- Monfils

He has Osgood Schlatter illness, it's due to the fact he grew up too fast when he was a teenager, Tennis magazine already talked about it, it's chronic, not serious and a surgery would be needless

yes that sounds horrible but again if Monfils decides to play aggressive consistently he might reduce the swelling thus pain in his knee

this has to be a mental battle for him.I would 1-2 punch my ass off
