to be honest, berlocq had much bigger balls, but was out of gas
monaco showed he's a tactical loon and would nearly choke to a dead man

big pity Charly didnt take these countless bps at 1-3 in the third set

Indeed it was a must win game.

Finally the title drought is over for Monaco, it's about time.

Panther Berlocq was brave as usual, serving/volleying at times. Coming back from a break down in the 2nd set, once he couldn't convert on any of the break back chances in the 3rd set, it was done for him.

Now he has to come back for the doubles final.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Would have preferred Berlocq to take his first but this isn't so bad I suppose.

Congrats Monaco.

Hopefully Berlocq can get his first title this year.

Re: Vina Del Mar Final: Monaco def. Berlocq 6-3 6-7 6-1

Monaco is a better player than Berlocq in any stage of the game and looked like Monaco felt the pressure to be the favourite to win/ or to break a strike of 7 finals lost in a row. Hopefully to finish this title drought will help him on his confidence.

Such great great week for Charly inspite of the defeat on his first ATP final. This final is going to help Charly to jump quite close to the top 40 which means that he can almost play a full calendar withouh having to play Challenger events.

Re: Vina del Mar final: Monaco bt Berlocq 6-3/6-7/6-1 to win his 4th ATP title

Berlocq produced some insane tennis to level things up after trailing 2-4 in the second set.

Camping on the baseline, hitting backhands on the rise and finishing points with immaculate net skills.

Match was on his racquet but he had nothing left in the third set. His intensity dropped and pretty soon he gassed. The marathon fifth game where Pico held after 5 break points was the final straw but I think it was a formality before even that.

Too solid from Pico in the end.

Great week from Berlocq. Maybe he should have tanked doubles last night but hopefully he can go on and take the title as consolation.

The fifth game was epic. Nice to see a good, old-fashioned clay battle played on clay with drop shots, touch shots and a lot of grinding. Berlocq ran on fumes in the end.

Only watched the final set, judging on that, a rather enjoyable clay match - one that was actually indeed played on clay.
Congrats to Monaco and thanks for the vCash buddy.
