He's right. It's within his grasp. He just needs to fight as much as Nole does and then some more.

Every single post you make, makes you look more and more retarded.

Exactly. 24 months ago. But he already had a GS.
But Murray is old now. He is 25 in a couple of months. Too bad though.

Sure he already had a Grand Slam, but it's stupid to say the Murray isn't close. As an Andy Murray fan I'm disappointed that he never took control of hsi career sooner. Bringing in Lendl was great but had he done it a while ago then he wouldn't be going through what he is going through now ie. trying to win his 1st slam and really through himself into the favourites mix when going into the slams.

Although having said that he's 24 years old, has just brought in Lendl, and you can already see the improvements in his mental game despite their short time together.

I'm feeling sympathy for this guy.
But Andy, please stop talking bullshit after every loss.

Re: Andy Murray says he's still close to No.1

To be fair, Murray wasn't far off beating Djokovic in the semi final, hence his comments. However, what Murray has to realise is that to be number 1 he has to compeltely dominate the tour for a whole calender year not just win one match.

I'd rather he said this than announced to the press that it was impossible for him to do it.

Without self-belief, even the self-belief that others will mock and pull down, you might as well throw in the towel.

It wouldn't surprise me if he took #1 spot at some point in the next couple of years, if only briefly. He isn't that far off Djokovic and Nadal right now.

Re: Andy Murray says he's still close to No.1

From what I saw of the Djokovic-Murray match, I though Murray was playing better than ever so I don't see why he should not have the ambition to win a GS and become number 1.

Federer: Lord of the Strings (quote borrowed from another MTF-poster)
Safin: His Royal Dork-ness
Hewitt: Mowing a lawn near you
Kuerten: tennis in the shape of a heart
Ollie Rochus: the lil'man that broke Karlovic

Besides, I'm assuming he's about to get down to some serious work with Mr Lendl and we'll see what, if any, impact that will have over the coming months. I think aiming for the slam is more important than aiming for the ranking, anyway.

Don't forgot this was only a month after he joined forces with Lendl.

Re: Andy Murray says he's still close to No.1

he is playing in the era of the two GOATs in nadal and djokovic, so he is very unfortunate.

He believes, good on him.

Stop whining, he couldn't get it done, I was as gutted as the next guy but that's sport.
