Those were my thoughts too - Definitely unfair on the players for Nole to go to Turkey for some random match practice, slaughter everyone and come back to Australia.

he should've directly called the organizers, not involve ilhan in this.

Clientalism at it's finest.

Nah, nothing serious. Novak doing what he can to help his poor brother

Maybe he comes to our futures event, last year we had Cilic's younger brother here. He got trashed in the first round by some austrian, but it was nice to watch. It would be nice to see Djokovic's younger brother as well.

Re: Djokovic gets rejected by Turkish futures tournament director

Nothing wrong with asking for the wildcard but he should have called the tournament director as others have said. Pretty cheap to just text another ATP player and hope they sort it out for you based on who you are... Kind of assuming a player has more control over tournaments in their country than I expect they do anyway. Maybe he thinks every country treats their top player like Serbia treats Nole.

poor class to use your clout in the tennis world to pressure tournament advisers and/or organizers to let a family member of yours get into a tournament not based on the player's talent but based on your power as #1 in the world.

helping out a family member would be giving them money, paying for their school, not trying to pressure or bribe organizers with your good will as #1 player in the world to let your low ranked brother get a wildcard into a tournament.

just bad class.

May be his mother asked him to do it. If he refuses they will think he is a bad brother that doesn't want to help his brother.
