Not a fan of either, but very sharp performance from Monf, played with a lot more consistent aggression than usual

| Wins over 3+ of the Top 4. Players to reach all slam QFs+ in history. Hawkeye/Line Calls. QFs+ at Slams & Masters, but never Top 20.

Well... I'm happy, I like Monfils and I was pretty sure he would lost this match.
I hope he can win the SF, almost impossible, Rafito knows exactly how to hurt him, remember Tokyo 2010...

Ah, appeal moderation? Wanna know what appeal moderation did to me?

Surprisingly good by Monfils. No clowning around, all sharp, all business. Hopefully the start of a new trend for him.

that's good to hear. I almost had stopped watching Monfils matches because it was NID that he was just going to entertain the crowd rather than try to win..... hopefully if he focuses and finds more of a middle ground between a career and a circus, then it will be worth having some faith in him

Even when he plays at his best and plays to win, he gets crushed by the top players so that's not the problem.
See how Djoker destroyed him just before US Open last year despite the fact he played some of his best tennis ever (by his own admission).

Djokovic trashed about everyone last year, so I don't think that is fair judgement about Monfils' chances against other top players.
Monfils has managed to score a victory over both Fed and Nadal before.

Not of Monclown but I think he did beat Nadull here a few years ago in the SF and went on to lose to Rogie (that may have been in another year). I hope he delivers another such performance and rids us of the injured one.

He never trashed Federer or even Nadal last year the same way he trashed Monfils, not even close.

Myson moving up the gears. Hope he has his running gear on for tomorrow.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.
