Prostejov with Berdych, F.Mayer, Seppi, Nieminen win Czech club title

Very interesting final of Czech club extra-league (mixed gender) took place yesterday. It was best of 9 matches, played in Prostejov - indoor/hard.
TK Prostejov beat 1st Czech Lawn Tennis Klub Prague 5-2

Nieminen-Mertl 6:2, 7:6 (7:5)
Šafářová-Benešová 7:6 (7:3), 6:3
Seppi-Hernych 6:0, 4:6, 4:6
Kvitová-Hradecká 7:6 (8:6), 6:7 (5:7), 5:7
Mayer-Petzschner 6:1, 7:6 (7:3)
Berdych-Melzer 7:6 (7:5), 6:4
Kvitová,Šafářová-Benešová,Hradecká 6:4, 5:7, 10:6

2 mens doubles matches were not played as dead rubbers. Stakhovsky, Hájek and some of the men who played singles were ready for Prostejov, Prague had Melzer/Petzschner.
In earlier rounds other top 100 players played for other clubs like Stepanek, Kubot, Dodig, K.Beck, Troicki, Rosol, Istomin, Kukushkin, Haider-Maurer.

  • Tomas Berdych beating Roger in Cincy - start of a good late season run
  • Radek Stepanek winning D.C. - back to top 30, top 20 next
  • Lukas Rosol RG R3, challenger titles - deserves top 100

Support also: Söderling, del Potro, Gulbis, Berankis

And these players complain the season is too long, yet they play this.

Well, congrats to them I guess.

Prostejov has plenty of cash, but it's league tennis all these players are training mode.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I'm not so sure that these are the players complaining about scheduling. Seems like only a handful of players want changes but they are highly ranked so their opinions are more noticed and for some reason projected onto lower ranked players. I'm sure these guys were happy to get a nice paycheck.

Supporting the unusual strokes gang: Dolgopolov, Mayer, Mannarino, Tomic

It's not wrong. It's just wrong for someone like Nadal to threaten a boycott then open season by playing an exhibition followed by optional tournament.

+1
Nadal's whining is just ridiculous and embarrassing. And then the media always writes: "Everybody complains about the long season blablabla"
Actually it's just Nadal and his little boy Murray who also complains some time. Maybe they should change their schedule and playing style, would help them a lot for sure

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Kvitova loss to Hradecka is hillarious. A headcase during off-season as well.
7:6(6) 6:7(5) 5:7

Seppi bageling Hernyich and then losing a match is not much better.
