In your opinion, what are some of the biggest waste of wildcards ever given out?

For 2011, I know what it is. Thomas Muster getting a wildcard at Vienna event this year against another wildcard player who's still a junior.
To me, that was a total waste.
Can you guys think of other examples where the wildcard was basically wasted?

Before they set the rule about needing a certain ranking to get one, most of the wild cards given to British players at Wimbledon were a joke. I could single out Bogdanovic but he's not the only one.

If I remember correctly, I thought the Bog was a hyped player and I found it funny, he wasted every single wildcard he was given. What a mug. Thank goodness, he has to qualify for his grand slams even Wimbledon.

Wildcard to Jason Kubler as a 16 year old at the 2010 Australian Open. Kubler didn't even have a professional ranking. Sure, Tomic got a wildcard at 16 the year before, but he was strides ahead of Kubler.

Also wasn't too fond of Tomic's TA wildcard into Roland Garros in 2009 as a 16 year old.

I think the Bog's wildcard was the worst of everyone else, He was given wildcards into Wimbledon for like 7 years and lost in the first round each time. What a mug!

I think he won a grand total of 5-6 sets in all those 7 yrs. Lmao.

Re: In your opinion, what are some of the biggest waste of wildcards ever given out?

Wilcards by their very nature are often "wasted" as the player isn't competent to win matches at that level.

But I guess you hope that the player gains some positives, even if they lose heavily, and use it as a stepping stone to improvement.

So I guess I think that DY's early WCs were particularly wasteful - they seemed to hurt him, not help him, gave him unrealistic expectations which were repeatedly dashed.
