Never . ATP will retire #1 spot in Djokovic's honor and neither one player won't be ranked #1 anymore

I don't think Djokovic will lose it.
He can pick up points at any tournament.

On the other hand, there's a lot of pressure in staying at #1 so Djokovic still has to show he can handle that mental challenge.

Re: When will Djokovic lose the number 1 position next year?

I am not sure if he will loose it, maybe for few weeks, but i believe he will be year end No.1. But during season either Rafa or Roger have chance to overtake him for a while. Very important will be AO for everyone. Nole is defending 2000 points, Roger only 720 and Rafa 360. So if either Roger or Rafa can win this it will be interresting first half of year, if Nole defend it- he will be confident and can be dominating first half of season- don´t think he will win everything like last year, but can win or make F at IW-Miami than win some clay Master, make another F-SF there and he will have enough points to be No. 1. Roger i think is not consistent enough to overtake him, i think he can do it only if both Nole and Rafa will do much worse than this season durigh first half of the 2012. I can imagine both Rafa and Roger overtake Nole after Wimbledon- both must have great 1st half of season, Nole won´t defend every title, the question is how much of points he will defend, he is capable enough in 1st half of season to make W, F, SF everywhere so the question is if Rafa or Roger will do better with more titles and finals at slams and Masters.

he has ALOT of points to defend. How he is going to defend his wimbledon crown is beyond me. If he doesn't have a dominating early HC and clay season he may lose it come Wimbledon time

Re: When will Djokovic lose the number 1 position next year?

Impossible to tell - if he ever will the coming year.
Djokovic has tons of points to defend, but so has Rafa - he's had a pretty amazing season as well, people seem to forget how hard it is to reach finals at all, and he made, what seven, or eight of them?
It's just as impossible to say anything about Fed's chances. Did he not have a fantastic end-of-season in 2010 as well? Well we all know how that panned out in 2011... let alone, he will have to defend 3000 points at the concluding two months of the 2012 season yet again.

How about the possibility of bloody-Mr.-Murray finally finding his composure, and take a big hit at the GS titles in the upcoming season? It's not that impossible as some might want to think.
"Results from the past... yada yada yada..." - things may change fast in tennis, just keep that in mind...

Usually once a headcase always a headcase.. And Murray as historically been a slam headcase.. That may not change until he learns to calm his nerves on the big stage

The exact same thing was said about Federer for many years.

I do agree with you on Murray having to find a way to controll his nerves though, if he'd ever want to make it 'big'. The guy has the talent, but history tells enough tales that mere 'talent' isn't just enough.
