I must say Federer is building up himself for other domination in tennis slowly but surely.He is not going to make such a huge changes as bigger racquet and new coach Edberg for nothing. Or just for this season ! No way with him. He is making F after F and gets hungry . I was thinking after this tough Wimbeldon final he lost he will lose in Toronto and Cincy in 2rd or 3rd. but not . Fed is fighting with full force and believes in his ability.

Re: Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the

There is something else which makes he even more smarter than people. He will prove that there is not such thing as weak era as some try to promote. He will try to prove he has two great rivalries Novak and Nadal or Maybe Murray as well. Maybe soon media is going to compare these two rivalries Fed/Djokovic and Fed/Nadal or Nadal/Djokovic as well?! Which one is for greatness?! In 44 matches Djokovic/Nadal have only two 5sets matches! Djokovic/Federer have more playing only 35 times and i think they played more times in GS level! Djokovic is more consistent at GS level like Federer ! BUT FEDERER IS NOT THEIR GENERATION ! He is 5 or 6 years older than them . No way they will say Roddick,Robredo,Blake,Haas,Hewitt,Ferrero,Davidenk o,Moya are Nadal or Djokovic generation. They were Federer' generation. So if Federer gets to #1 and dominates the game for next year then we will going to hear something else from media! That will make him even greater and no one will ever ask again who is GOAT!

He's already proving the weak era argument is BS, by being a contender for slams and at no.2 or no.1 at 33 years of age. Truly remarkable

Name another era with 5 players with 600+ wins. Federer, Roddick, Hewitt, Haas, and hopefully Ferrer.

Only comparable one is Sampras, Agassi, Ivanisevic and Chang.

Re: Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the

If one looks back in time when Federer reached the top spot there is always a comon link. Rafa injury and absence.

After RG09 Federer regained nnº1.
After Wimby 12 after Rosol loss and injured for 7 months Again Federer won his 17 and broke Sampras record.
2 years later same old story. Rafa injured and Federer with another chance to add to 17 and get over 302.

Suicide:
Doha´14(T) - Houston´14(W)
Miami´15(W) - Madrid´15(T)
- Nottingham´15(T) - Winston Salem´15(W)

FITD:
Washington´14 - Halle´14

2014 - PAW-> 51st - Suicide->41st - FITD->28th
2015 - PAW-> 38th - Suicide->1st - FITD->10th
Race - PAW-> 43rd - Suicide->1st - FITD->5th

Federer has already proven this in 2012 by regaining #1. PRIME Nadal, Djokovic and Murray were simply not good enough to stop old man Federer from getting back to the top of the rankings.

The only thing it proves its he takes advantages from his chances. Rafa injured, Nole too tired from a gerat 2011 and Murray getting started with Lendl.

If he was so good how come he only lasted a few months?

I already stated Feds last 2 stints on top was due to Rafa beeing unable to defend on court. But Its not Feds fault. Hes just been so lucky all tru his career.

Rafa was not injured until Wimbledon in 2012.

Injured ? Rafa ? Really? Do you know where Rafa is now? Tio Toni took the ship in other way . He will try to make Rafa' career longer with those breaks ! He is not injured for sure. We have seen this movie many times .

So you mean the previous years Fed was No. 1 for 237 consecutive weeks, Rafa was injured and absent - all that time Nadal was at No. 2 to Fed's No. 1 (for 3 years) he was really injured and absent. Wow! I never realised that!

Or are you conveniently choosing certain points of time for your illustration while ignoring the others?
