Federer will become the number 1 player in the world after Rome if:

1) Djokovic loses today, and Federer wins Rome.

Rome points are already deleted. He would come to about 1000 points difference.

Even if you didnt watch any tennis in past 6 month, you would know that Fed has been doing rather well, because certain serbian trolls have become quite vocal recently.

And how many slams did he win in the last 3 years? Now you will try to tell me that winning IW and Madrid is more important than winning AO and Miami, right?

No, but are you saying that wining 3 Masters, WTF and a few other tournaments isn't good? And with good results, Slam(s) will (hopefully) come.

Re: Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the

The inference in this thread that Federer fans shouldn't be allowed to be happy with what he's achieved in the last six months just because he's been getting semis at the slams is

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo

The question is whether Federer fans have something to be happy about. And your point is that winning anything other than a slam is completely meaningless?

There's no reason to feel any joy about your favorite player winning 7 of the last 10 tournaments he's played?
