Re: Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the

Most likely Roger will win MAdrid and he will be very close-in Rome defending almost nothing thanks to his Gasquet choke from last year, RG will be tough but at least SF is safe bet and he can add a lot on Wimbledon, olympics, summer HC Masters and USO.

But if he fails to achieve No.1, because of some 50-200 points - than i will be laughing again over his Miami loss to Roddick, SF was safe bet there- c´mmon Monaco in SF of HC Masters1000 against Nole - maybe even more, so hope he won´t regret that Roddick choke .

I really hope Roddick's match won't bite Roger's ass at the end. That could have been an easy SF, final or a title.

You can always change the future. But you can never change the past.
I think Fed will be madder about that USO SF than Roddick's match.

It's all on his head. step by step

It would be no fun to lose to Djokovic in SF, dont know if it is worth all those points. Federer should have played Djokovic in Basel/WTF/Dubai/Madrid but Djokovic escaped.

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.

I believe he will.

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

David Nalbandian

Hell yes! Come on Roger!

Suppose if Roger loses tomorrow, then where will he need to reach in Rome to get 2nd? Will it be all down to Roger or will it also depend on Nadal's performance?

It depends on Nadal mostly either way. If Nadal wins Rome, Fed can't get to No. 2 even if he wins Madrid and reaches final in Rome.

If Roger wins Madrid:

-If Nadal wins Rome, he is back to number 2 anyway.
-If Nadal loses in final, Roger has to reach SF to remain number 2.
-If Nadal loses in SF or earlier, Federer remains number 2 for sure.

Could you show the math? When I was looking at the numbers, I could have sworn Federer didn't need to get that many points from Rome even if Rafa wins.

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber
