Re: So what's the Group A scenario now?

Berdych wins: Federer vs. Ferrer, Tsonga vs. Berdych
Berdych loses: Federer vs. Djokovic, Tsonga vs. Ferrer

I don't get this
If Berdych lost
then it's
3-0
1-2
1-2
1-1

And 1-1 has no chance at all?

Tipsarevic needed 2 wins to have any chance. With one match played less he can`t qualify if 2 other players have same number of wins as him.

Berdych finishing the group as #1 will be a dream come true Especially since he's hardly played that well.

It's the special ****-the-alternate rule, they automatically lose any ties (on wins, sets, games, whatever).

Even if the alternate came in and double bagelled both opponents for 2-0 24-0, he gets eliminated vs the guy who went 2-1 50-49 in three third set tiebreaks. Fun, huh?

Djoker rather lose than win his countryman

If Djoker win TIPS, it seems that Ferrer need 1 set against Czech to confirm A1 to avoid Federer. (Stabler 1-2 Czech, Djoker out!)

If Djoker loses to TIPS (Reality), Ferrer must win Czech to confirm A1 to avoid Federer. (Stabler wins Czech, Djoker in!)

Djoker has better H2H against Czech

Czech has better set / set ratio than Djoker if he win Ferrer

Yes you're right. But I think Ferrer dosen't care. 200 points for a win is a huge stake for him, also there's a lot of money.

Roger Federer | Benoît Paire| Stanislas Wawrinka | Nick Kyrgios

Re: So what's the Group A scenario now?

Okay I got this from the ATP world tour final website:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Scores/F...ings-2011.aspx

FRIDAY

Singles Group A qualification scenarios after the completion of the 2nd round of the event's group stage:

1) Regardless of score, if N. DJOKOVIC defeats J. TIPSAREVIC and D. FERRER defeats T. BERDYCH, then D. FERRER wins the group and N. DJOKOVIC qualifies 2nd.
2) Regardless of score, if J. TIPSAREVIC defeats N. DJOKOVIC and D. FERRER defeats T. BERDYCH, then D. FERRER wins the group and N. DJOKOVIC qualifies 2nd.
3) Regardless of score, if J. TIPSAREVIC defeats N. DJOKOVIC and T. BERDYCH defeats D. FERRER, then T. BERDYCH wins the group and D. FERRER qualifies 2nd.

4) If N. DJOKOVIC defeats J. TIPSAREVIC in 2 sets and T. BERDYCH defeats D. FERRER in 2 sets, then D. FERRER wins the group and T. BERDYCH qualifies 2nd.
5) If N. DJOKOVIC defeats J. TIPSAREVIC in 2 sets and T. BERDYCH defeats D. FERRER in 3 sets, then D. FERRER wins the group and N. DJOKOVIC qualifies 2nd.
6) If N. DJOKOVIC defeats J. TIPSAREVIC in 3 sets and T. BERDYCH defeats D. FERRER in 2 sets, then D. FERRER wins the group and T. BERDYCH qualifies 2nd.
7) If N. DJOKOVIC defeats J. TIPSAREVIC in 3 sets and T. BERDYCH defeats D. FERRER in 3 sets, then D. FERRER wins the group and T. BERDYCH qualifies 2nd.

I thought if Djokovic won, he would go through regardless of the other match result? Since say Berdych won, both would be 2-1, but Djokovic goes through on H2H? So why would the website have scenarios where Djokovic wins but Berdych qualifies?
