After a dreadful start of the match (à la Tsonga?), Fish realized that he had nothing to lose here and stepped it up in the second set. This, combined with a classic mental walkabout from Federer, resulted in Fish deservedly winning the second set.
I'd call it a "consolation set".
Thereafter the result was never-in-doubt, Fed stopped the rot and did his business. Certainly not his best performance (pretty much impossible after that masterclass against Rafa), but decent enough, imho.
And to be honest I'd rather see these Mirkaland sets happening during this dead rubber than in possible later stages of the tournament.

Mardy... too big an event for him with his current form and lack of experience. Still, great effort of him to even be
there. Hopefully a good start of the season in 2012 for him as well, as he's surely capable of playing some mighty good ball.
