Some strange scenario for group B

I don't know if I understand the rule correctly but here is how it goes.

If Nadal today beats Federer 2: 1,

Let's say in the last round Federer also beats Fish 2:0

Then compare these two.

1. Nadal loses to Tsonga 2:0

The set win/loss for the three are:
Tsonga 5: 2
Nadal 4:4
Federer 5:3
Tsonga is through. Nadal tops Federer for H2H.

2. Nadal loses to Tsonga 2:1
Tsonga 5:3
Nadal 5:4
Federer 5:3
Nadal is eliminated for set win/loss ratio.

Does that mean if Nadal loses his first set to Tsonga, he would rather just give up the second set?

Re: Some strange scenario for group B

The way u put it,Nadal would be out in both cases.U can`t make a H2H between Federer and Nadal in case 1 when all 3 players would be in same boat with 2-1 record, and everyone beat everyone. If 3 players are tied it all comes down to set percentages.

I've got the feeling that Rafa will be extra motivated to beat Tsonga.

I see. If that's the case, it solves my puzzle.

Tsonga would be top on sets won %, and Fed 2nd. H2h only works in 3ways to split a tie when two are level (ie the same sets won%).

Tsonga 5:3
Nadal 5:4
Federer 5:3
Nadal would be out as having the lowest sets won%. Fed and Tsonga have the same sets won% so it goes to h2h, and Fed then tops the group.

Re: Some strange scenario for group B

This would be the weirdest scenario:Nadal beats Federer in straight sets but loses to Tsonga in straight sets while Federer beats Fish in straight sets.
Then Tsonga would be on a set ratio of 5-2,Nadal 4-3 and Federer 4-3.And then it will come down to game % between Federer and Nadal.

No, direct head2head would decide then, and Nadal would advance because he won their match 2-0.

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Re: Some strange scenario for group B

Things turn out to be simple now.Federer wins group regardless of last match while Nadal-Tsonga will decide second spot.
