The best indoors match you've ever seen

Choose one and explain why.
My choice is the ATP Tour World Championship Final in Hannover,1996. The Masters Cup 99' Agassi-Sampras Final comes close.

yeah... solid opener...

the death of carpet and slowing of indoor courts from 2005+ saw the rise and rise of what can only be described as Console Tennis... that is, tennis that is most aesthetically appealing to fans of Virtua Tennis etc etc... the fed nalby matches are enjoyable...

but this string of matches from 2008 are some of the best examples of this thing called console tennis...

simon nadal a more defensive version of the above...

of course vintage indoor tennis is the best version though... the '96 masters cup final being mentioned already... here are some great vintage indoor clashes though...

and if anyone wants to take the time to educate themselves on a true clash of styles/eras/ideologies on an indoor level then sort your way thru this...

Re: The best indoors match you've ever seen

fed nalby 2005 TMC final

fed nadal 2006 tmc sf comes close....

Q. Do you think you would have been able to play as well as you played today, or you think you would have pulled out from the game if it wasn't the Masters Cup final?

ROGER FEDERER: No, Roger Federer doesn't pull out. Otherwise he doesn't walk on court (smiling).

After losing to Nalbandian in 2005 TMC final...

Saw it live - it was incredible. Some of the rallies were insane. I was there with a Nadal fan, and all throughout the match there was no begrudging the other player from either of us because it was such high quality.

Andy Murray

Gilles Simon - Juan Martin del Potro - Grigor Dimitrov

Pablo Andujar - Philipp Petzschner - David Ferrer - Mikhail Youzhny - Simone Bolelli

Julien Benneteau - Juan Monaco - Tommy Haas - Gianluigi Quinzi - Tommy Robredo - Guido Pella - Lleyton Hewitt

Nalbandian vs Federer at Bercy 2007.
It looked like a table tennis match at times.
Insane level

Re: The best indoors match you've ever seen

In recent years probably

Llodra brought the magic and some of the volleys were just mindboggling. Not even Edberg himself would pull some of those shots. So much drama too. Meanwhile Soderling was cranking it up on almost every shot and was uber aggressive. Very cool match, you barely see indoor tennis like that these days with all the slow ass courts

Nalbandian was just unplayable in that match.

Yes, good one.

Also Davydenko vs Federer at WTF 09 was really high quality.
