Good result.

Ferrer choked in the tibreak should have put it away in 2, nevertheless he should make the final.

Re: Shanghai QF: Ferrer def. Roddick 6-7 (5) 6-2 7-6(2)

Decided to stay up and watch this one, but got really frustrated (and tired) after the first set. Roddick was just not giving Ferrer any free points of the ground, but only hit like 2 winners going into that tiebreak, one of which was a bh slice passing shot. Other than the serve, Ferrer had to do all the heavy hitting, but still managed to blow the tiebreak.

I'm just glad Ferrer got through this match. Roddick really has zero game now and he probably knows it, but the fact that he's in good physical shape and stronger mentally than the majority of the tour, means he can keep winning against less consistent players. He'll probably stick around as a 20-30 ranked player for a few more years, if not better.

Supporting the unusual strokes gang: Dolgopolov, Mayer, Mannarino, Tomic

who are these fans holding up "come on andy" and "kiss me andy" signs ?? Do they even WATCH his matches and his behaviour ?? It amazes me that he has one fan left after his childish embarrasing displays recently.

Re: Shanghai QF: Ferrer def. Roddick 6-7 (5) 6-2 7-6(2)

Great match to watch, very tense and aggressive from both players. Ferrer as usual had me sitting on the edge of my seat, thank god he won in the end. Ferrer is very difficult to predict, but great to cheer for. Roddick I thought played extremely well, he just was not hitting the winners. Roddick deserves praise for the way he played, however the best man won.

Ferrer's game against Ferrero had more nervous tension relating to their close off court friendship. I thought ferrer wanted to win too badly at the start and lost his cool composure, however he regained his winning form and took the game. wonder if they are talking to each other again yet!!

A good, hard fought match between 2 guys that respect each other. A real gentleman's contest. Andy played about to the best of his current abilities, but Ferrer is just the better player right now.

I'm afraid that Andy has regressed too far into his pusher game to really challenge good players consistently anymore. Maybe he will be satisfied hovering around the Top 15-30 range and making the QF of a Slam on a good week. I, like most everyone else, would like to see him up his aggressiveness with his groundstrokes(not with rushing the net) and get back to blasting the serve and forehand and dictating play...but honestly he probably just can't do it anymore. He would need to start taking "vitamins" and sleeping in eggs like the other top players.

Tennis died either way. Wasn't a beautiful match between them.

A solid match...Roddick was steady and actually did have his moments where he tried to be aggressive. Ferrer was too good in the end, while Andy is playing way more for consistency nowadays, that gave Ferrer a lot of rhythm (something Ferrero did a good job of keeping David out of). This was much more of the match I was expecting at the US Open

I mean current game. I'm sure if Sampras played Djokovic now he'd get beaten pretty easily too.

He can barely defeat Roddick, for this reason he won't be a good fit for WTF. He'll probably get KO'd by the 3 opponents in the group stage.
