Shanghai RD 1: (Q) Ebden def. Andujar 6-4 6-4

Nice double bagel from Matty and gets the wood over Pablo for the second week running. He's really worked hard this year and it is fantastic to see it all paying off on the court. Not the worst 2nd round draw as well with either Troicki or Harrison.

Slowly edging towards the top 100.

Re: Shanghai RD 1: (Q) Ebden def. Andujar 6-4 6-4

Ebden's been quietly improving this season, should make the top 100 very soon at this rate. Starting to look muuuch better for Aussie Tennis than it did a year ago.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

I think the top Aussies (Tomic and Ebden) are enjoying playing internationally in time zones not so different from there own for a change.

I heard Matt worked with Woodforde in this summer. Do they do it on a regular basis or the collaboration was for certain parts of the season?

Another great win for Matt. He looks to have really progressed as a player. Hopefully we'll be getting used to seeing him in main draws of tour events.

Re: Shanghai RD 1: (Q) Ebden def. Andujar 6-4 6-4

When I saw Matt play against Ferrer last week and take a set off him I could tell he'd gone up a level. I even told myself as much, i said "self! here is Matt Ebden 24, 130 in the world going toe-to-toe off the baseline with the number 5, the wall, pics, logan from baywatch. Surely he can start winning on the main tour regularly with this solid, even game he's got. Nice movement, no big weapons but no glaring weaknesses".

Good for Matt. He's a hard worker and he's a likeable guy with a good head on his shoulders.

With all of that said, hopefully he loses on Wednesday.
