Shanghai FQR: Ebden def. Petzschner 6-3 6-1

Ebden routined Serra 6-4 6-2 yesterday and then destroyed Picasso today, serving at 78% and winning 80% of serve points. Picasso served horribly at 41% and that proved to be his biggest demise here, but coming off a competitive encounter with Ferrer in Tokyo a few days ago, this Aussie is really starting to show a few things.

Will be very interesting to see how he does in the main draw, as most of the draw positions are very winnable matches.

Excellent result for Matt. He's worked hard to get where he is, he doesn't chase the week events for points. GL in the MD.

true enough and i think the point you make gives away the state of mind that ebden has... obviously believes he belongs which is a hell of a lot of the battle in moving from where he is to the tour main in quicker time...

Another good win for Matty.

Ebden showing some real potential. Aussie tennis has been a one-man show for far too long. It would be nice if they could get two guys consistently in the mix for a while. (Or even 3 if Lleyton's body can give him one more good year.)
