Re: ATP/ITF Calendar/Schedule Suggestions, shorter season and other issues

They ought to make Indian Wells and Miami green clay, and have them 1 week long w/ 64 draws. This gives us a 4 weeks grass season run up to Wimbledon.

It would be:

3/5/12- Indian Wells
3/12/12- Miami
3/19/12- Davis Cup
3/26/12- Casablanca/Houston
4/2/12- Monte Carlo
4/9/12- Bucharest/Barcelona
4/16/12- Munich/Belgrade/Estoril
4/23/12- Madrid
4/30/12- Rome
5/7/12- Dusseldorf/Nice
5/14/12- Roland Garros
5/28/12- Newport/Halle
6/4/12- Queens 1000
6/11/12- Rosmalen/Eastbourne
6/18/12- Wimbledon
7/2/12- Stuttgart/Bastad/Umag
7/9/12- Hamburg/Atlanta/Gstaad
7/16/12- Kitzbuhel/LA
7/23/12- Washington
7/30/12- Olympics
8/6/12- Toronto
8/13/12- Cincy
8/20/12- Winston Salem
8/27/12- USO

The only primitive surface is grass which is the only surface where all service-mugs like the overrated pretty boy in your avatar can have some success. It's outdated, too expensive, too unrobust.

Replacing IW and Miami with grass court tourneys...yeah right, great idea that is

Climate change plus the diminishing ground water basin of the area.

Re: ATP/ITF Calendar/Schedule Suggestions, shorter season and other issues

Dubai, Queens, and Buenos Aires should have a Tennis Masters Series.

Upgrade the Copa Claro into a TMS, Queens into TMS and Dubai into a TMS.
Buenos Aires will take Madrid's place. Queens will take Miami's place. Cincinatti will be replaced by Dubai. Turn Madrid, Miami and Cincinatti into 500 events. Halle should be a 500 event as well. Iceland should have a 250 event, call it the Arctic Open. It will be indoor carpet. Players like Freddie Nielsen, Soderking, Nieminen get wildcards for this event. Grass court season lasts a month longer. Add grass court events 250 level in Boston, Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool and Cologne.

This way, we can have a Grass TMS, a South American Tennis Masters and a Middle Eastern TMS.

Personally, I think it's kinda hard for some of the top players to have to play back to back Tennis Masters series or three times in a row like the Clay Swing.

I say give the top players a rest and don't have back to back TMS series.

Re: ATP/ITF Calendar/Schedule Suggestions, shorter season and other issues

grass should defo have a masters 500 (Queens) and 1000 (Halle), or vice versa. Perhaps extend the season a month after Wimbledon also as it needs more court time imo.

Re: ATP/ITF Calendar/Schedule Suggestions, shorter season and other issues

Neither Queens or Halle have facilities required for a Masters level event. Plus, it would make summer schedule quite nightmarish.

Same with Buenos Aires unless they move the event to Parca Roca.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
