how about you list all the money-greedy exhos these guys are playing? We could probably count them on one hand. I'm sick of hearing people whine about exhos as if these guys are out there playing them every other week. The top players make most of their money in sponsorships anyway. I'm sure #2 is getting paid more from Armani than any exhibition he chooses to play.

I don't think any of the exhibitions these guys participate in causing fatigue. Abu Dhabi is at the beginning of the year - it's basically a good practice match or two before the new season starts. Plus AM and #2 only have themselves to blame if they go all out in an exho as if they were playing in a grand slam final.
I agree that playing exho's isn't the main problem (especially not when those exhos are played for a humanitary beneficient cause). However, playing exho's while still whining about a 'too long season' still doesn't leave a good impression imho.

The exhos were one small part or my argumantation...if you can't see that there is contradiction of playing exhos and then on the other hand complaing about the grueling long ATP calendar then well

Andy Murray tells the New York Times that if the U.S. Open ever decides to become a 15-day tournament that the players should be paid more. Roland Garros currently begins on Sunday and is played over 15 days, but it does not pay the players more as the draw has not been expanded.

After the top players complained long and hard about having to play on back to back days because of the rain, the U.S. Open men's final was moved to Monday. USTA board member Franklin Johnson told the newspaper that not having the men’s final on Sunday may have hurt the tournament financially.

Roger Federer suggested that the tournament due away with Super Saturday,* to which Johnson responded* "the TV revenue from playing the men’s semis on Saturday instead of Friday is materially better."

However, USTA Executive Director* Gordon Smith said he does not see a Sunday start in the short term.

Murray said: "If they want to put an extra day in, then they better increase the prize money substantially because it’s an extra day’s work for us."

^^^

If there's one thing that I'm happy in this whole incident is that Murray has been exposed as the utterly conceited, arrogant and stupid person he is. I never liked him but he should be banned from ATP promotions from now on. The only thing that's saving him is the stupid Brit press harping on about his (nonexistent) chances of winning a Grand Slam.

Andy Murray, what an idiot

The solution is simple: Speed up the fucking courts, use quicker balls. Faster courts=shorter rallies. Shorter rallies= less strain. Less strain=longer career.

Faster courts = shorter rallies = less spectators = less money.

The solution is not that simple...

I doubt your favorito will be happy to do that. He won almost nothing on medium fast hard courts and would not have won the US Open if had normal speed and normal balls. Good to see some Nadal fans assess things correctly.

Re: Player union call as injuries mount, scheduling issues

Maybe they should just scrap the january-mars hardcourt season??? The Australian Open is historically irrelevant anyway and 3 slams on 3 surfaces would be a more balanced schedule.

Somewhere between 35 shot rallies and serve fests, there must be a happy medium.

I could give a shit about Nadal. He has 10 slams and an overflowing bank account.

He'll be fine. I'm more worried about the entire rest of the tennis landscape.

Yeah, and that is medium paced hardcourt which most of the tournaments are played on these days.
And that doesn't mean that I'm not for more variety.
