Re: Borg, Connors, McEnroe - which was the greatest head-to-head rivalry?

I like Mcenroe-Connors, Borg-Mcenroe is good but just a little bit overrated. Mcenroe-Connors had all that steam going between them and stretches over a long period of time (their whole careers) and not only 2-3 years.

Borg-Connors was a catastrophy really, if MTF would be around when Connors was bitchslapped back and forward by Borg on hardcourts/US claycourts/grass/indoor carpets in his prime people would be laughting their ass over Connors beeing a sissy playing Borg. Credit to him for hanging around and fighting and just waiting for his turn even beeing much older than Borg.

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.

I hope those who voted #3 have seen HBO Sports' McEnroe/Borg: Fire & Ice documentary. A must see for the fans IMO – I had a great time watching it anyway.

David Goffin ♦ Roger Federer ♦ Mikhail Youzhny ♦ Dustin Brown ♦ Pierre-Hugues Herbert

Borg dominated Connors only in Borg's last 3 years, 1979-81. 1973-76 Connors was the boss, 1977-78 it was pretty even.

Hard to say. Think it has to be Borg-Mac for the way it captured the public imagination.
