2012: Will Federer complete the career CHOKE SLAM?

Now that we're done with the slams for another year, time to look forward to 2012, where the legendary Roger Federer will be gunning for yet another honour.

Having provided epic chokes against Nadal in Melbourne, Djokovic in New York (twice) and Tsonga in SW19, all that stands in the way of Federer and yet another piece of history is a repeat of any of the above performances on the red clay of Roland Garros.

Time is running out for the great maestro to accomplish this amazing feat seeing as he has just turned 30. My question is: will we be seeing the particular piece of history from Federer in Paris next year?

It just highlights how many chokers and mugs he was facing during his prime. Therefore, compared to them, Fed was a mental fortress. He was dominating in a significantly weaker era than today. Not saying that he wouldn't have won slams had he been at his prime in this era, but he definitely wouldn't have 16.

He will turn 31 next year, So.... It's time to retired. absolutely not

Don't see it happening. His ego is too big to retire. Sad thing is, he'll keep on playing, and keep on losing, and choking matches not only to top players, but to low ranked players too. After years of such display a lot of people will forget the amazing things he did in his prime. He should have retired in similar fashion to Sampras, after winning his last slam (French Open or Australian Open). Can you imagine what would happen had he done that? He would be untouchable for ever. He would be viewed as an UNDISPUTED GOAT. Now, with these chokes, questionable losses, people are starting to question the strength of his era, and Fed's mental strength. If this choking/losing continues, people will focus more on his losses than his wins, and his legacy will be for ever damaged.

he is already a proud owner of double choke slam.
AO: 2005 vs Safin (ok, arguable this one), 2009 vs Rafa (bigtime)
RG: 2007 vs Rafa (1/17 bp), 2011 vs Rafa (was crushing, then just shut down for no reason)
W: 2008 vs Rafa (1/13 bp), 2011 vs Tsonga (this one arguable as well, Tsonga just took control. shouldnt have been allowed though)
US: 2009 vs DelPo (facepalm), 2010 vs Nole (double facepalm), 2011 vs Nole (triple facepalm)

Hehe...it's so funny with Fed and all his "titles". Ranging from GOAT to Choke Slam Champion.

Would it be wrong to say that his choking is a result of his awareness of his own weakness, i.e. top spin to BH?

Btw: He has not completed the career choke slam. He hasn't been in the position of winning RG and then losing it. Also, I wouldn't count this year's loss to Djokovic as a choke in that category, because it wasn't the final and we all know he would have lost to Nadal in the final...and I'm a fan of Fed...

EDIT: I don't count not converting BP's as choking...oponent a huge factor, vs. a lesser factor during own serve...

having the greatest ever choke record is just part of his overall goatyness.
and how do you not consider not converting bps choking? did you see the that wimly game? nadal facing break point. breaks out horrible grimasses. picks ass. bowls 70mph in the middle of the box. rog slices it to bottom of the net. again. again. again. again.

Why most ppl say he choked against Tsonga in Wimbly this year?

I don't get it really. He didn't choke at all in that match. Jo was just on fire in the last three sets and Fed didn't have any real chances to break him. Jo simply was the better player.

The man reached a SF, F, SF, SF. Give him some freaking respect.

Nah, I said somewhere on the threads (can't remember which), that he would end this year with nothing, but come back 2012 with at least a single slam. So lets see if he lives up to my expectations :)
