Possible food poisoning scandal in Wimbledon

Soderling explained to media after the Tomic match that he's had stomach illness for days. It had zapped him of all power and he gave the match a shot since it wasn't any risk for his life/injury but in the end he was in no state to compete.

Karol Beck also called for a doctor with the same complaints vs Ferrer. Didn't watch that match so don't know more about that. But it was also stomach illness apparently.

Now some sources say that even more players are affected and there is a rumor it could be food poisoning from the players restaurant. Might know more about this in a few days but it certainly explains the "tiredness" of a few players.

I hope they can pinpoint the source. In many sports people avoid public restaurants during major tournaments to not risk anything. Possibly will lead to more players doing their own food shopping and cooking I don't know. But in the end things like this shouldn't happen in a slam tournament.

I noted in the funny pictures thread that Nadal did some cooking of his own. Not so funny anymore as some people seemed to think

Apparently Karol Beck thought it was pasta he had eaten in the players restaurant. Dunno about that but if he said it himself he should know. Rumours are that more than 10 players have issues

I feel sick anytime I eat food in UK. Kebab places at the Middle Eastern district of London are probably the safest place to go to have something edible.

Re: Possible food poisoning scandal in Wimbledon

it's a cultural thing

The People Who Brought You the Annual "Going Out of Business" Sale

20-something girl: So, I guess we are now officially corporate hos.
30-something man: Yeah, so now you have to learn to play tennis.
Girl passerby: What does that have to do with anything?
20-something girl: Then we can be corporate hos and tennis pros -- duh.
30-something man: We should do commercials... Why don't we work for an ad agency?!

What Sod and Beck claim could be true. With all that E. coli infections in Germany, France and some other countries in that region in recent times it wouldn't surprise me if there were similar problems in GB.

If I was a player at wimbledon, I would eat the cheese and pickle rolls as provided to everyone there. I ate like 4 this week.

Re: Possible food poisoning scandal in Wimbledon

Soderling defeat is not that surprising. He was already smocked by Dolgopolov at the Australian Open. He is overrated and will probably lose his number 5 rankings soon.
