Wimbledon R1: Ljubicic def. [27] Cilic 7-6(2) 3-6 6-3 6-4

Ljubo's serve on the big points and mental solidity got him through this one. Cilic just is all over the place with his game. Not a high quality match. Marin had plenty of chances, led a break in the first set for example, but wasn't nearly consistent enough. Ljubo played a pretty bad fourth set but still was able to win it, being a double break up and getting over the finishing line.

Ljubo used the slice and chip and charge well, that's something I'd like to see him do more of on grass. Cilic couldn't hit passing shots to save himself.

Wimby R1: Cilic gets a free tennis lesson from Ljuba Legenda, losses 6-7 6-3 3-6 4-6

Ljuba in his fifties will still be able to beat these choking mugs like Sillych, Mugdasco and others.
Marin enjoyed the master class.

Mardy Fish!

I don't see Cilic improving his game any time soon. He's overrated to begin with, but he's just mediocre now. Nothing in his game stands out and he's ultra erratic.

Well played for the most part Ivan apart from some moments in the fourth set. Hopefully he can get through Stakhovsky next and at the least give Murray a run for his money in round 3.

Marin has regressed so much this past year, back to the drawing board again I guess.

No coaching changes. No trying anything different. Every time I see Bob Brett regretfully shaking his head in Mugrin's box, I feel like punching him. Retire for your fan, please Mugic

Legenda doing business as usual.

Great result. Legenda
okay, it's against Cilic of course, but still.

Well done Ljubo
Cilic is playing much worse than 2 years ago,the question is does he even deserve to be in the top 50 atm and why hasnt he changed anything to regain form and to improve his game,he is playing worse tournament after a tournament.

When Legenda or anybody with brain in traces loses to Cilic, it's time for retirement .

This was a good occasion for all who still haven't met Marin to see him near the top of his game. You could see anything what peak Marin can produce. His trademark combo with loosing the serve for the set with 4 UE's and then breaker with 7 UE's ( still my favorite thing to see at current ATP scene ) , double-digit numbers of UE's in a row , number of shanks on which even Shankerer would be proud , loosing every big point or simply said art of loosing .

Still can't believe Murray lost to this mug in USO 4r 2009. This guy has no brain, and his forehand is the stuff of club tennis.

He needs to get a trans op, call himself Marina and retire to WTA.

I get the impression you don't like Cilic very much?

Not unexpected at all. Marin just does not have the consistency that Ljubicic has and most likely never will, just not in his game.
